Trout (knee) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The 33-year-old slugger was taken out of Wednesday's contest after experiencing a bit of soreness in his left knee. His removal was labeled precautionary by manager Ron Washington after the game, and Trout said he would attempt to play Thursday, but it appears his injury is more serious than the team initially thought. Jorge Soler will start in right field while Trout sits and could continue to do so if the latter needs to miss any additional time.

An MRI on Swanson's right forearm came back negative Thursday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Swanson will receive a second opinion, but the initial prognosis on his pitching arm is good. The reliever was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome back in late March and had been slated to begin a rehab assignment earlier this week, but he had to be scratched due to renewed soreness. The next steps for Swanson should be revealed after he gets his second opinion.

Witt went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and an additional RBI in Thursday's 8-2 win over Tampa Bay.

Witt put the Royals ahead 3-1 with a two-out, opposite-field blast off Shane Baz, his third homer of the year. The long ball extends Witt's hitting streak to a career-best 22 games. The shortstop is now slashing .322/.400/.496 with 15 RBI, 20 runs scored and nine steals across 140 plate appearances this season.

Garcia went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored, an RBI and three stolen bases in Thursday's 8-2 win over the Rays.

Garcia had gone just 4-for-9 in steal attempts coming into Thursday's contest after swiping 37 bags in 39 tries last year. Garica has now hit safely in four straight contests, going 7-for-17 (.412) with three doubles in that span. Overall, he's slashing .296/.353/.435 with two homers, 11 RBI and 12 runs scored across 119 plate appearances this season.

Baz (3-1) took the loss Thursday against the Royals, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out one.

Baz managed to work around traffic to keep the Royals off the board in his first three innings. He'd eventually give up a run in the fourth before Kansas City exploded for six runs over Baz's final 2.2 frames. The right-hander has been excellent in four of his six starts this year, allowing just three runs in 26 innings. However, he's now given up 12 runs across nine frames in his other two outings. Overall, Baz sports a 3.86 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB this season. He'll look to rebound in his next start, currently scheduled for next week against the Phillies.

Lugo (3-3) earned the win Thursday over Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on five hits over six innings. He struck out five.

Lugo was sharp Thursday, allowing just a solo homer to Yandy Diaz in the first inning before the Rays added a second run with two outs in the sixth. It's the third straight quality start for Lugo, who's allowed just five runs over 20.2 innings in that span. His ERA is down to 3.07 with a 1.05 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB across seven outings (44 innings) this season. Lugo will look to keep rolling in his next start, currently lined up for next week against the White Sox.

Gimenez is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Red Sox.

Gimenez is in a 4-for-51 freefall at the plate, so he will get a day off to regroup. Ernie Clement is at second base and Addison Barger is handling third base for Toronto.

Springer is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Red Sox.

Springer had started the last 11 games but will get a breather for the series finale. The Blue Jays are going with Alan Roden, Daulton Varsho and Nathan Lukes in their outfield Thursday.

Brash (elbow) has made six appearances during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma, logging an 8.44 ERA, 2.06 WHIP and 5:2 K:BB over 5.1 innings.

Brash last pitched Tuesday, which marked the first time he's worked two out of three days on his rehab stint. He had previously received at least three days off in between each of his first five outings. The hard-throwing right-hander appears to be on the precipice of being activated from the injured list after missing all of last season due to Tommy John surgery. General manager Justin Hollander said Wednesday that Brash is "getting very close" to rejoining Seattle's bullpen, per Zac Hereth of Seattle Sports.

Rafaela is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Toronto.

It's a routine day off for Rafaela, who had started each of the previous five contests for the Red Sox. Boston is going with Kristian Campbell in center field and David Hamilton at second base in the series finale.
