Gausman (5-10) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on nine hits and one walk over 5.2 innings in a 5-1 victory over the Cardinals. He struck out four.

In what could be his final start as a Blue Jay, Gausman blanked the Cards for five frames before running out of steam in the sixth and falling just short of his 12th quality start of the season. It was the veteran righty's best performance since June 30, after he'd stumbled to a 6.10 ERA in 20.2 innings over four outings in July. He also secured his first win since May 22. If he remains with Toronto past the trade deadline, Gausman is set to take the mound on the road next week against the Cubs.

Baker secured the save Saturday against the White Sox, throwing a clean ninth inning. He struck out one.

Baker made things look easy Saturday, landing each of his six pitches for strikes to dispatch the White Sox bats. The All-Star closer extended his scoreless streak to 12 innings as well, and he's given up just two runs in 26 appearances while recording 20 saves since his last blown chance May 13 in Toronto. Through 43.1 frames, Baker boasts a 1.45 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 46:15 K:BB with an MLB-high 31 saves in 34 chances.

Rasmussen (10-5) earned the win Saturday against the White Sox, allowing no runs on four hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out 10.

Rasmussen had the White Sox bats out of sorts Saturday, generating an impressive 18 whiffs en route to registering his second-most punchouts of 2026. The right-hander coughed up 11 runs over his first two outings of July but has since steadied the ship, giving up just a pair of runs across his last three appearances (18 innings) while producing a 14:3 K:BB during that span. Rasmussen will bring a stellar 2.91 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 122:20 K:BB over 117.1 frames into his next scheduled start at pitcher friendly T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

Schultz (3-8) took the loss Saturday against the Rays, allowing one run on three hits and no walks in five relief innings. He struck out four.

The White Sox chose to use Schultz behind an opener for the first time this year, and the move helped yield one of the hurler's best outings of the season. It was just the fourth time in 14 appearances that he's surrendered one or zero runs, so it wouldn't be surprising if Chicago maintained a similar approach for the left-hander's next scheduled showing against the division-rival Guardians. Through 65 innings this season, Schultz has a 5.82 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and a concerning 58:31 K:BB.

The Athletics designated Thomas for assignment Saturday.

Thomas joined the Athletics on Thursday after being claimed off waivers from Atlanta, but the left-hander didn't make any appearances before the Athletics elected to move him off the 40-man roster. The 28-year-old has gotten off to a historically poor start to his big-league career; over four appearances with Milwaukee and Atlanta between this season and last, Thomas has allowed 27 earned runs on 27 hits and eight walks while striking out nine batters in 11.2 innings.

Jobe (elbow) will make his next rehab start with High-A West Michigan on Sunday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Jobe was initially scheduled to start for Triple-A Toledo but was moved to High-A due to weather concerns for Sunday's game. He's already completed four rehab appearances, the last of which took place with Double-A Erie on July 25, when he allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out four across four innings. Jobe is in the final stages of his recovery from the Tommy John surgery that he underwent in May 2025, and he should be ready to join the Detroit rotation within the next couple of weeks.

Huff accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday after clearing waivers, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Huff was booted off the Orioles' 40-man roster Monday in order to make room for Yohel Pozo. He'll opt to stay in the organization and will head to Triple-A, where he's produced a .189/.265/.302 slash line with three home runs across 117 plate appearances this season.

The Yankees recalled Cruz from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Cruz is back for his third stint with the big club so far this season. During his previous two call-ups, the right hander made three total appearances covering 4.1 innings and pitched well, allowing no runs on one hit and a 6:0 K:BB. Cruz will take the roster and bullpen spots previously occupied by Camilo Doval, who was traded to Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Chisholm is starting at second base and batting fifth Saturday against the Cubs.

Chisholm exited Thursday's contest against the White Sox after cramping up, and he was held out of Friday's series opener against the Cubs. However, manager Aaron Boone stated ahead of Friday's contest that Chisholm was "fully active," so he was likely just held out because Chicago sent a lefty starter to the mound. All seems to be well with Chisholm given his return to the lineup Saturday.

Rice isn't in the Yankees' starting lineup versus the Cubs on Saturday.

According to Zach Sweet of MLB.com, it's just a planned day off for Rice, as manager Aaron Boone said he's been looking for a good time to give the star slugger a rest. Amed Rosario is getting a turn at DH on Saturday with Rice out of the lineup.
