The Rangers could look to promote Carter from Triple-A Round Rock after placing Leody Taveras on outright waivers Sunday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Taveras could stick around in the Texas organization if no other team is willing to put in a claim for him and if he doesn't elect free agency after the waiver process concludes, but he would be taken off the Rangers' 40-man roster and would have to report to the minors. In any case, Taveras' expected removal from the roster would create a need for an extra outfielder, and Carter would seem to be a logical option to replace him. After failing to win a spot on the Opening Day roster following a rough spring training, Carter got off to a slow start at Round Rock but has picked up the pace at the plate since about mid-April, slashing .271/.327/.500 with two home runs and three stolen bases over his last 12 games. Carter could provide a shot in the arm to a Rangers offense that currently ranks 27th in the majors with a team .282 wOBA for the season.

Kochanowicz (1-5) took the loss Sunday against the Tigers, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out a batter in five innings.

Kochanowicz's troublesome innings came during the second and third when he let up all five of his runs. A pair of walks to begin the second was a recipe for disaster, as the Tigers took advantage and scored three runs. Colt Keith made it four straight starts with allowing a home run with a two-run blast in the third. It's been brutal for Kochanowicz thus far, as he ranks bottom five among qualifying pitchers in ERA (5.79), WHIP (1.50) and strikeout rate (12.3%) among other categories. He'll aim to rebound in a home start versus Baltimore over the weekend.

Baez went 2-for-4 with a double and four runs scored in Sunday's 13-1 win over the Angels.

After getting Saturday off for rest, Baez returned to action and extended his hitting streak to seven games while setting a new season best in runs scored. For the season, the veteran is now batting .309 with an .829 OPS through 28 contests. The move to center field has possibly rejuvenated Baez, as he's off to his best start since coming over to Detroit before the 2022 campaign.

Keith went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, two walks and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Angels.

Keith took Jack Kochanowicz deep to center in the third to put the Tigers up 5-0. It was his third home run in his last five games after he had zero in his previous 27. Over these last five games, Keith has driven in five runs and scored eight times while producing a 4:3 BB:K. He's showing signs of life and barreling the ball more after not doing much offensively over the first month of the season.

Sweeney went 4-for-5 with a home run, two total runs scored and six RBI in Sunday's 13-1 win over the Angels.

Sweeney tied his career high with the four hits and set a new career best for RBI in a game. It was actually the first time this season that the shortstop had multiple RBI in a contest, and just the third time that he recorded multiple hits. Sweeney is now riding a modest five-game hitting streak, during which time he's gone 8-for-20 with two home runs and seven RBI.

Carpenter went 4-for-6 with a homer, a double and five RBI in Sunday's win over the Angels.

Carpenter plated a pair of runs with a double in the second and then blew the game wide open with a three-run shot to center field in the sixth. He now has three homers in his last six games and has notched three-plus hits in two of his last three. Carpenter has recently seen a majority of his starts coming from the leadoff spot, and it's paid off, as he leads the team with a .295 batting average after Sunday's massive day.

Olson (4-2) got the win over the Angels on Sunday, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings while allowing three hits and three walks. He struck out eight.

Olson posted his third scoreless start this season of at least five innings. Sunday was also his third straight start with at least seven strikeouts, as his swing-and-miss stuff has taken a noticeable jump from last season. Over his last four outings, Olson has a 1.14 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 27:9 K:BB in 23.2 innings. He lines up for a home matchup against the Rangers in his next start.

Vivas went 1-for-2 with two RBI in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Rays.

Vivas didn't start the contest, but he entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and grounded out in his first at-bat. The 24-year-old accomplished a personal milestone in his second trip to the plate, singling in a pair of runs for his first major-league hit. Vivas had gone 0-for-3 with two walks in his first two games after getting called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. He could see frequent starts at second base while Jazz Chisholm (oblique) is on the shelf.

Bellinger went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in a loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Bellinger gave the Yankees their first two runs with a blast to right-center field in the sixth inning. The homer was his second in his past five games, and he's driven in five runs while batting .235 with three walks over that span. Bellinger is still slashing just .200/.276/.364 on the season, though, and he's added four homers, 18 RBI, 15 runs and three stolen bases through 31 games.

Carrasco tossed three innings in relief in Sunday's 7-5 loss to Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three batters.

Carrasco started in six of his first seven appearances this season, but he covered the final three frames for the Yankees on Sunday. The veteran hurler surrendered two runs in his first inning but settled in and held the Rays scoreless over the eighth and ninth frames. Carrasco's most recent start came Wednesday, but his schedule got shifted due to Clarke Schmidt (side) getting scratched from his start Saturday and pushed to start this coming Tuesday. After his appearance Sunday, Carrasco appears in line to return to the rotation versus the Athletics in Sacramento next weekend.
