Vazquez went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

The veteran backstop took Dean Kremer deep in the fourth inning, giving Vazquez his first long ball of the year. He's added little offense in general to begin the campaign -- Vazquez's .193/.277/.316 slash line through 57 plate appearances has him on pace to record a sub-.600 OPS for the third straight year.

Sands recorded his first save of the season in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles, pitching a perfect ninth inning in an 8-6 win. He didn't walk or strike out a batter.

Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax both worked the opening game of the twin bill, leaving Sands to handle the save chance in the nightcap. The 27-year-old righty has been effective in a high-leverage role this season, collecting two wins and five holds over 18 appearances in addition to Wednesday's save while delivering a 2.70 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 12:6 K:BB through 16.2 innings.

Woods Richardson didn't factor into the decision in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader sweep of the Orioles, coughing up six runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander got tagged for all six of his runs in the third inning, serving up homers to Cedric Mullins and Heston Kjerstad. The two long balls, six runs and eight hits were all season highs for Woods Richardson, and he continues to tax the Twins' bullpen -- he's failed to last five frames in four of his last five trips to the mound. He'll carry a 5.02 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB through 37.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Guardians.

Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Reds.

Taylor has been in the lineup for six straight games, though two of those starts came with Luis Robert being on the bench due to a knee issue. Robert returned to the lineup Tuesday, but Taylor has stuck in the lineup as the White Sox's starting right fielder in both contests while Chicago has faced left-handed pitching. Taylor is likely to remain in a short-side platoon role in right field, with Joshua Palacios getting most of the starts versus right-handed pitching. Both Taylor and Palacios could face tougher paths to playing time once Mike Tauchman (hamstring) and Austin Slater (knee) return from the injured list, perhaps as soon as this weekend.

Soderstrom went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 9-3 loss to the Dodgers.

The 23-year-old put the A's on the board and tied the game with a two-run homer during the third inning, with the long ball ending a 23-game homerless stretch. Soderstrom has cooled off from his hot start to the campaign but still has a .285/.343/.515 slash line with 10 home runs, two steals, 29 RBI and 27 runs through 43 contests in 2025.

Hoglund (1-1) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.1 innings against the Dodgers. He struck out five.

Hoglund allowed just three runs across his first two MLB starts, but Los Angeles tagged him for three homers Wednesday to hand him his first loss. Another major difference from the right-hander's first two outings were free passes, as he entered Wednesday with only one walk issued. With J.T. Ginn (elbow) potentially nearing his return from the injured list, Hoglund's time in the Athletics' rotation could be running out despite a 3.78 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB over 16.1 innings.

Duran recorded his eighth save of the season in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles, giving up a hit and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

The Twins closer continues to dominate. Duran has yet to blow a save in 2025, and he's delivered 10 straight scoreless appearances, posting a 0.90 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB over 10 innings during that stretch. After some early-season usage which suggested manager Rocco Baldelli might be viewing him as more of a high-leverage fireman, Duran has maintained firm control of ninth-inning duties for Minnesota.

Ober came away with a no-decision in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles, giving up three runs on two hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out three.

The right-hander failed to complete five innings for the first time since April 5 and issued more than two free passes for the first time since March 30, as Ober tossed only 57 of his 102 pitches for strikes before getting the hook. Despite the shaky control, he still allowed three runs or fewer for the eighth straight outing. Ober will take a 3.72 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 40:12 K:BB through 48.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Guardians.

Benintendi (calf) will be reevaluated in one or two weeks, MLB.com reports.

Benintendi doesn't have a timeline to return, and this update doesn't make things particularly clear. However, it looks unlikely that he'll be activated before June.

Ward went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to San Diego.

That's now four homers in the month of May so far for Ward, with all four of those long balls coming in his last nine outings. The veteran outfielder has only nine hits in his last 10 games, but six of them have gone for extra bases to help give him 12 RBI during this span. The Angels have begun to regularly use Ward in the middle part of their lineup as opposed to the leadoff spot, which should continue to hurt his run-scoring upside but increase his RBI potential.
