  • Red Sox's Patrick Sandoval: Throws bullpen session

Sandoval (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The bullpen session -- which featured 16 fastballs -- was Sandoval's first since he underwent internal brace surgery on his left elbow last June. Sandoval is slate to throw off the mound twice per week as he continues to ramp things up. The hope is that the left-hander can contribute to the Red Sox at some point during the second half, but there's no concrete timetable for him at this point.

  • White Sox's Adrian Houser: Gets MLB deal from White Sox

The White Sox signed Houser to a one-year, $1.35 million contract Tuesday.

Houser requested and was granted his release from a minor-league contract with the Rangers last week so that he could link up with the White Sox on a big-league deal. The veteran right-hander has posted a 5.03 ERA and 37:15 K:BB over 39.1 innings at Triple-A Round Rock this season. Houser will join Chicago's rotation and start Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

  • Chris Paddack RP | TEX

Twins' Chris Paddack: Tuesday's game postponed

Paddack won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Guardians since the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Mother Nature has wreaked havoc on this series, as Monday's contest was suspended after three innings and was set to resume prior to Tuesday's regularly scheduled game. The suspended contest is now set to resume Wednesday ahead of the second game of the series, and the other game is scheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader Sept. 20. Paddack is likely to pitch in one of Wednesday's contests, with the suspended game being advantageous since the Twins hold a 2-1 lead.

  • Gavin Williams SP | CLE

Guardians' Gavin Williams: Guardians-Twins rained out

Williams will not make his scheduled start Tuesday after the game against the Twins was postponed due to inclement weather, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The teams had been slated to complete Monday's suspended game before playing a full nine-inning affair, but now neither of those contests will be played. The suspended game will now be completed Wednesday, while the other game that Williams had been slated to start will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sept. 20.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Moved down to sixth in lineup

Santander is batting sixth for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

It's the lowest Santander has batted in Toronto's lineup this season. After hitting third in each of his first 39 games with the Blue Jays, Santander was moved to fifth in the order over the weekend against the Tigers. Santander has continued to struggle and is now slashing a disappointing .182/.264/.308 with five home runs, 16 RBI, 12 runs scored, zero stolen bases and an 18:44 BB:K through 178 plate appearances for Toronto.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Absent from Tuesday's lineup

Dominguez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Rangers.

Dominguez had started each of the previous five contests but will get a night off Tuesday as the Yankees continue to juggle their outfield and designated hitter mix. Cody Bellinger is covering left field and Ben Rice will be the DH.

  • Astros' Hayden Wesneski: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Astros transferred Wesneski (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The right-hander is undergoing Tommy John surgery this week, so the move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural. Wesneski will be sidelined for the rest of 2025 and at least the first half of the 2026 campaign.

  • Colton Gordon RP | MIL

Astros' Colton Gordon: Optioned to Triple-A

The Astros optioned Gordon to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Gordon is being sent out to make room on the roster for Brandon Walter, who will start Tuesday in Tampa Bay. The left-handed Gordon has permitted six runs with a 10:2 K:BB over 9.2 frames in two starts for the Astros.

  • Kade Strowd RP | ARI

Orioles' Kade Strowd: Optioned to Triple-A

The Orioles optioned Strowd to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

He's exiting the roster to make room for Chayce McDermott, who has been recalled to serve as the team's primary pitcher in Tuesday's game against the Brewers. Strowd made one appearance during his brief time in the majors, allowing one run over an inning of work.

  • Orioles' Chayce McDermott: Recalled from Triple-A

The Orioles recalled McDermott from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

McDermott will be utilized as the team's bulk reliever Tuesday in Milwaukee, following opener Keegan Akin. The right-handed McDermott permitted four runs while striking out five over three innings of work in a spot start last week versus the Twins.
