Athletics' Zack Gelof: Moved to 60-day IL

The Athletics transferred Gelof (wrist/ribs) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Gelof will vacate his spot on the 40-man roster in a purely transactional move, as the second baseman has been sidelined since March 26. Gelof had been recovering from surgery on his right wrist but got pulled from his rehab assignment May 5 after being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his ribs. The 25-year-old remains without a timetable for return.

  • Denzel Clarke CF | ATH

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Officially promoted to majors

The Athletics recalled Clarke from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

One of the organization's top prospects, the runway has been cleared for Clarke to take over center field duties for the Athletics after JJ Bleday was sent down to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Clarke has slashed .286/.436/.419 with zero home runs, 21 RBI, 25 runs scored, seven stolen bases and a 17.3 percent walk rate across 133 plate appearances at Triple-A this season.

The Tigers optioned Guenther to Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Guenther has yielded seven runs (six earned) with an 8:5 K:BB over 10.1 innings with the big club this season. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for the return of Matt Vierling (shoulder).

  • Matt Vierling CF | DET

Tigers' Matt Vierling: Activated from 10-day IL

The Tigers activated Vierling (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Previous reports indicated Vierling could return as soon as Sunday, but the Tigers have elected to bring him back sooner. The 28-year-old is coming back from a right rotator cuff strain that he suffered in late February. Vierling has batted .206/.372/.441 with two home runs and one stolen base across 11 rehab games. The Tigers could ease him back into action, but Vierling should eventually be close to an everyday player between third base and the outfield.

  • Seth Brown LF | ATH

Athletics' Seth Brown: DFA'd by Athletics

Brown was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Freshly up from Triple-A, Denzel Clarke looks like the next man up in center for the Athletics.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Remains out Friday

Santander (hip) remains out of the lineup for Friday's contest in Tampa Bay.

Santander's left hip has bothered him off-and-on over the past week, and this will be his second straight day out of the lineup after he had to exit Wednesday's game versus the Padres. George Springer will be at designated hitter for the Blue Jays on Friday, while Jonatan Clase and Nathan Lukes will hold down the corner outfield spots.

Bregman left the game in the fifth inning after coming up limping while rounding first base. The third baseman immediately called for a trainer and exited the field, and it's likely he'll continue to be evaluated Friday. Abraham Toro pinch ran for Bregman and is playing first base while Nick Sogard slides over to third base.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Sent to Triple-A

The White Sox optioned Vaughn to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Vaughn will try to find his swing at Triple-A.
