George Springer will be at designated hitter for the Blue Jays on Friday, while Jonatan Clase and Nathan Lukes will hold down the corner outfield spots.

Red Sox's Alex Bregman: Dealing with quad tightness
Bregman exited the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Orioles due to tightness in his right quadriceps. Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Bregman left the game in the fifth inning after coming up limping while rounding first base. The third baseman immediately called for a trainer and exited the field, and it's likely he'll continue to be evaluated Friday. Abraham Toro pinch ran for Bregman and is playing first base while Nick Sogard slides over to third base.

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Sent to Triple-A
The White Sox optioned Vaughn to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Vaughn has been an MLB regular with the White Sox since 2021, but he's gotten off to a horrible start in 2025, slashing .189/.218/.314 with five home runs, 19 RBI, nine runs scored, zero stolen bases and a 7:43 BB:K across 193 plate appearances. Vaughn will try to find his swing at Triple-A.

Guardians' Ben Lively: Set for season-ending elbow surgery
Lively will undergo season-ending surgery to reconstruct his right elbow UCL and repair his flexor tendon.
Lively and the Guardians made the decision to undergo the operation after receiving a second opinion from Dr. Keith Meister in Texas earlier this week. The surgery is likely to sideline him at least 12-to-16 months, but more details on a timetable should be available after the procedure. Lively, 33, is set to reach arbitration eligibility for the first time this offseason.

Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Back in lineup Friday
Torres (lower leg) will DH and bat second in Friday's game against the Guardians.

Mike Tauchman CF | NYM
White Sox's Mike Tauchman: Back from IL
The White Sox activated Tauchman (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Friday.
Tauchman dealt with a hamstring strain during spring training that cost him the start of the season. He then re-injured his hamstring in his third contest and hasn't played since April 9. In limited action earlier this season, Tauchman went 4-for-10 at the plate with one run scored and a 2:2 BB:K. He should see plenty of at-bats against right-handed pitching.

Andrew Benintendi DH | CHW
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Activated from IL
The White Sox activated Benintendi (calf) from the 10-day injured list Friday.
Benintendi was placed on the IL on May 7 but is back after getting a couple rehab games under his belt. Prior to his injury, Benintendi was slashing .224/.298/.400 with five home runs, 12 RBI, 13 runs scored and an 8:17 BB:K across 95 plate appearances. The veteran outfielder should slide back to the top of the depth chart in left field.
