The Orioles designated Tromp for assignment Saturday.

Just five days after being added to the active roster, Tromp will lose his spot in favor of Jordyn Adams, who was selected from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday. Tromp went 0-for-4 during his time in Baltimore and has slashed .254/.338/.413 in 71 minor-league plate appearances this season.

The Orioles selected Adams' contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday.

With Colton Cowser (thumb), Cedric Mullins (hamstring), Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) and Ramon Laureano (ankle) all on the injured list, the Orioles' outfield depth is stretched thin. Adams will now join the big-league club to help provide depth at all three outfield positions, replacing Chadwick Tromp on the 26-man and 40-man rosters.

The Orioles placed Mountcastle on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right hamstring strain.

Mountcastle had to make an early exit from Friday's contest due to a hamstring issue, and imaging later revealed a strain. While the 28-year-old is out, Coby Mayo will come up from the minors to fill the open spot on the active roster.

The Orioles recalled Mayo from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday. He will start at designated hitter and bat sixth Saturday against the White Sox.

With Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) moving to the injured list, Mayo will rejoin the active roster to give Baltimore some additional infield depth. The 23-year-old went just 1-for-12 during his previous stint in the big leagues this season and has slashed .180/.265/.328 across 61 plate appearances since being sent back down to Triple-A.

Kirk isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics.

Kirk will get a chance to catch his breath Saturday after going 4-for-7 with three RBI, two runs scored and three walks through the first two games of the series. Ali Sanchez will replace him behind the dish and bat ninth.

Story went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-1 win over Atlanta.

Friday's homer snapped a 15-game drought and was just his second long ball over the last 34 games. He was productive through the first three weeks of the season, but the expected impact of a healthy Story's bat hasn't played out overall. He's batting .219 with a .593 OPS and 23 RBI over 55 games this season.

Toro started at first base and went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 5-1 win over Atlanta.

First base has been chaotic since Triston Casas (knee) suffered a season-ending injury, but Toro has made a case for himself. He's gone 14-for-42 (.333) with three home runs, four doubles, five RBI and seven runs scored over the last 12 games. However, the Red Sox intend to experiment with Kristian Campbell at first base for at least one game during this weekend's series in Atlanta.

Jung went 3-for-5 with three RBI in Friday's 11-1 win over the Cardinals.

Jung gave the Rangers an early lead with a run-scoring single in the first inning and then drove in another two runs during the team's four-run sixth inning. He joined the eruption by a team that entered the night averaging just 2.4 runs per game over the previous 13 contests. Jung has hit safely in 10 of the last 11, going 12-for-42 (.286) with five RBI, two steals and three runs scored during that stretch.

Rocker (shoulder) allowed one walk and struck out five over four hitless and scoreless innings for Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

Rocker was untouchable, retiring the first 12 batters faced before issuing a walk to lead off the fifth inning. That ended his night. It was Rocker's second rehab appearance, which followed three scoreless innings for Double-A Midland a week prior. After the Midland game, Texas manager Bruce Bochy estimated the right-hander would need a few more starts, and that may still be the case. Rocker threw 53 pitches in the Round Rock start.

Carter (quadriceps) started in center field, batted leadoff and went 0-for-3 for Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Carter played six innings in the first game of a rehab assignment. Texas manager Bruce Bochy told Kennedi Landry of MLB.com that Carter will get another "two or three days" before the club assesses the 22-year-old outfielder.
