The Twins traded Alcala to the Red Sox on Wednesday in exchange for Andy Lugo, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Alcala finished the 2024 season with a 3.24 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across 58.1 innings. He hasn't come close to replicating that same success to begin the '25 campaign, however, as he currently owns an 8.88 ERA and 1.81 WHIP through 24.1 frames. He'll now join a Red Sox bullpen that is in need of some depth after being bitten by the injury bug over the past couple of weeks, though the 29-year-old righty will likely be limited to low-leverage work until he finds his footing.

Chapman collected the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Rays after throwing a clean ninth inning. He struck out two.

Chapman picked up his 12th save of the season, and he's now posted eight consecutive outings without allowing an earned run. The 37-year-old southpaw has recorded at least one strikeout in 10 consecutive appearances, and he now boasts a 1.59 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 39:9 K:BB over 28.1 innings on the year. Chapman has successfully converted 12 of his 13 save chances in 2025 as Boston's closer.

Brieske allowed five runs on three hits and two walks while retiring just one batter in Wednesday's 10-1 loss to the Orioles.

Brieske didn't factor into the decision Wednesday but did allow the game to get out of reach due to his poor performance. The righty saw his ERA climb from 4.57 to 6.55, which is a far cry from the 3.59 ERA he posted during the 2024 regular season. Brieske's FIP has also climbed from 3.50 to 5.37, so the underlying statistics indicate that he's taken a step backward in 2025 as well. He's firmly behind Will Vest and Tommy Kahnle in Detroit's bullpen pecking order at this point, and Brieske may see more low-leverage work until he can get back on track.

Chisholm was removed from Wednesday's contest against the Royals due to left groin tightness, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

After making an early exit from Tuesday's game due to neck tightness, Chisholm's groin forced him to leave a second consecutive game prematurely. The severity of his latest injury remains unknown, though the Yankees may look to get their starting third baseman a day off, given the fact that he's been injured twice in two days. If so, Oswald Peraza would likely benefit from an additional start.

Mize (6-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Orioles, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out seven.

It was a decent outing overall for Mize, who had failed to make it through five frames in his previous two starts. The only damage against right-hander came on Ramon Urias' two-run homer in the third inning, though the Tigers could only muster one run of support, leaving Mize with his second loss. The 28-year-old Mize now sports a 2.95 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP and 55:18 K:BB through 11 starts (61 innings) this season. He's currently slated to face the Pirates at home in his next outing.

Eflin (6-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Tigers, allowing a run on five hits and a walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out five.

It was another strong outing from Eflin, who held Detroit scoreless through six innings before giving up a lone run in the seventh. Eflin has won his last three starts, allowing just four runs over 19.1 innings. The right-hander's lowered his ERA to 4.08 through nine starts (53 innings) this year with a 1.09 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB. Eflin is currently lined up to face the Rays on the road in his next outing.

Woo (5-4) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk with three strikeouts over six innings.

All five runs surrendered by Woo came via two home runs in the sixth inning, including a grand slam by Eugenio Suarez. While the 25-year-old righty impressively completed six frames for the 13th straight start, he's now allowed nine earned runs through two June outings. On the season, he owns a 3.39 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 72:12 K:BB across 82.1 innings and will look to get back on track at home against the Red Sox next week.

Santana went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Wednesday's 11-2 win over the Reds.

The veteran switch hitter broke the game open when he drove a Nick Lodolo changeup over the right-center field fence in the third inning. It was Santana's eighth homer of the season, but his first off a left-handed pitcher, while the grand slam was the sixth of his career among his 332 long balls. Through 63 contests in 2025, Santana is slashing .251/.350/.388 with 34 RBI, putting him on pace to reach 80 for only the second time since 2019.

Thomas went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 11-2 win over the Reds.

The 29-year-old outfielder put the cherry on top of the rout when he took Joe La Sorsa deep in the sixth inning. It was Thomas' first homer of the year in his 20th game as well as his first three-hit effort, as injuries have derailed the beginning to his campaign. He's started two of three games in center field since returning from his most recent IL stint, and even after Wednesday's big performance he's slashing just .164/.227/.224.

Sears allowed two runs on four hits over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the Angels. He struck out nine.

Sears was dominant early, allowing just two singles through five scoreless frames. However, he'd give up back-to-back base hits to start the sixth, both of whom would come around to score after the A's turned to the bullpen. After going six or more innings in three of his first four starts this season, Sears has gone seven outings without recording a quality start. Overall, the left-hander has a 5-5 record with a 5.08 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 58:14 K:BB across 14 starts (72.2 innings) this season. Sears is currently lined up to face the Astros at home in his next outing.
