  • Josh Palacios RF | CHW

White Sox's Joshua Palacios: Designated for assignment

The White Sox designated Palacios for assignment Friday.

Palacios has been stuck in a prolonged slump recently, going just 4-for-33 across his last 14 games. His poor performance will now result in him being kicked off the White Sox's 26-man and 40-man rosters, and the team will recall Brooks Baldwin from Triple-A Charlotte to fill the void on the big-league squad. The 29-year-old Palacios owns a .597 OPS through 145 plate appearances this season, making it unlikely another team claims him off waivers.

  • Justin Slaten RP | BOS

Red Sox's Justin Slaten: Not cleared to throw yet

Slaten (shoulder) hasn't started playing catch yet, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reported Friday

Slaten has been shut down from throwing for nearly two weeks, having not played catch since hitting the injured list June 1 with right shoulder inflammation. It's unclear when he'll get the green light to throw, but he may not be ready to go until July.

  • Tyler Gilbert RP | CHW

White Sox's Tyler Gilbert: Reinstated from IL

The White Sox reinstated Gilbert (knee) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Gilbert made five minor-league appearances during his rehab assignment, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven across 5.2 innings. He will return to the majors after spending the last month on the 15-day injured list due to a right MCL injury in his left knee. Gilbert posted a 4.85 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 16:7 K:BB across 13 innings prior to his stint on the IL.

  • Liam Hendriks RP | CHC

Red Sox's Liam Hendriks: Resumes throwing program

Hendriks (hip) has begun playing catch, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Hendriks has been shut down from baseball activities since being placed on the injured list May 30 with inflammation in his right hip. However, he's started throwing, which is a significant step in his recovery. Still, he remains a ways away from returning.

  • Reese Olson SP | DET

Tigers' Reese Olson: Starting rehab assignment

Olson (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Olson has been sidelined since May 19 due to right ring finger inflammation, but he's made enough progress with his throwing program to test himself in a game setting. General manager Jeff Greenberg said Sunday that he's "cautiously optimistic" that Olson will return from the injured list "sooner rather than later," though he may require multiple appearances at Triple-A before being cleared to join the big-league rotation.

  • Brooks Baldwin SS | CHW

White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Up from Triple-A

The White Sox recalled Baldwin from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Baldwin has caught fire since being sent down to Triple-A in mid-May, slashing .380/.437/.734 with seven homers, 17 RBI, 19 runs scored and three stolen bases across 19 games. His hot streak will now buy him another shot with the White Sox as a replacement for Joshua Palacios, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Baldwin has experience playing every position in the field other than first base, which significantly boosts his chances of picking up big-league starts.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

White Sox's Ryan Noda: Claimed by South Siders

The White Sox claimed Noda off waivers and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Noda was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Monday in order to make room on the 40-man roster for Roman Anthony. Noda has spent the entire 2025 season in Triple-A, and across 51 games between Salt Lake and Worcester he is slashing .204/.404/.375 with four steals, seven home runs and 21 RBI across 208 plate appearances.

  • Matt Vierling CF | DET

Tigers' Matt Vierling: Begins rehab assignment

Vierling will start a rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Vierling will play DH on Friday but is completing a throwing progression daily as part of his recovery from right shoulder inflammation. It's unclear how many games he'll need at Toledo, but he should be back on the active roster within a week or two.

  • Michael Tonkin RP | MIN

Twins' Michael Tonkin: Activated and sent to Triple-A

Tonkin (biceps) has been activated from the 60-day injured list and has accepted an assignment to Triple-A St. Paul, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Tonkin began the season on the shelf due to a strained right shoulder before experiencing biceps tendinitis during a rehab assignment. While he's finally healthy, Tonkin will continue at the Triple-A level.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Taking seat Friday

Westburg isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.

Westburg went 3-for-11 with two homers and four RBI during his first series back from the injured list, and he'll now get a chance to rest during Friday's series opener. Ramon Urias will start at third base and bat seventh in Westburg's place.
