John Rooney RP | HOU
Astros' John Rooney: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Astros transferred Rooney (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Elbow inflammation sent Rooney to the injured list last week, and moving to the 60-day IL will officially put an end to his regular season. The 28-year-old turned in a 2.56 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 38.2 innings in Triple-A and gave up one run in 1.1 frames during his MLB debut. Jayden Murray was selected to the active roster in a corresponding move.

Spencer Arrighetti SP | HOU
Astros' Spencer Arrighetti: Sent to injured list
The Astros placed Arrighetti on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right elbow inflammation, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Arrighetti gave up just one run in 6.1 innings while punching out a season-high eight batters during his last start Saturday, but he reported pain in his elbow after a bullpen session Wednesday, per Rome. The Astros could revert to a five-man rotation until the 25-year-old righty returns; meanwhile, Jayden Murray will come up from Triple-A Sugar Land to provide Houston with extra bullpen depth.

Ramon Urias 2B | HOU
Astros' Ramon Urias: Drawing fourth straight start
Urias will start at second base and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
Urias will pick up his fourth straight start at the keystone after going 3-for-10 with a home run, a double, a walk and two RBI over the previous three contests. With Jose Altuve seeing most of his playing time of late at designated hitter or in left field, Urias looks like he could be a stable part of the lineup at second base while he's swinging a hot bat. Urias could eventually face competition for reps at second from Mauricio Dubon, who has been playing more in center field of late but may become more of a factor in the infield once Jake Meyers (calf) returns from the injured list.

Mauricio Dubon 2B | HOU
Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Sitting for second time in four games
Dubon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
Dubon will hit the bench for the second time in four games and could be transitioning back into more of a part-time role after he had been a near-everyday player for Houston since about mid-May. The last two of his starts have come in center field, but Jake Meyers (calf) will likely see the bulk of the opportunities at that position once he returns from the injured list, perhaps as soon as this weekend.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Continuing to sit against righties
Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.
Goldschmidt will remain on the bench for the Yankees' third consecutive matchup with a right-handed pitcher while manager Aaron Boone goes with Ben Rice at first base. Rice should continue to draw the bulk of the starts at the position against righties, as Goldschmidt has produced a lowly .267 wOBA in those matchups for the season.

Tyler Soderstrom LF | ATH
Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Receiving rest Wednesday
Soderstrom is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
The Cardinals are sending left-hander Matthew Liberatore to the hill for the series finale, so Athletics manager Mark Kotsay likely decided that Wednesday was an optimal time to give the left-handed-hitting Soderstrom his first day off since Aug. 15. While starting in each of the Athletics' last 16 games, Soderstrom slashed .323/.400/.452 with one home run, one stolen base, nine RBI and seven runs.

James Outman CF | MIN
Twins' James Outman: Taking seat Wednesday
Outman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
Outman will head to the bench after he went 2-for-13 with two walks, one stolen base, two runs and one RBI while starting in each of the past four games. Austin Martin will cover left field and bat ninth Wednesday.
-
Kody Clemens 1B | MIN
Twins' Kody Clemens: Idle Wednesday
Clemens is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
Clemens will take a seat against a right-handed starter (Yoendrys Gomez) for the second time in five games, allowing Edouard Julien to receive a turn at first base. Dating back to the time Julien was called up from Triple-A St. Paul on Aug. 1, both players have posted a sub-.600 OPS, so the two could operate in a timeshare until one clearly separates himself from the other from a performance standpoint.
-
Mike Tauchman RF | CHW
White Sox's Mike Tauchman: Receiving evening off
Tauchman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.
Michael Taylor will enter the lineup in the White Sox outfield while Tauchman takes a seat after starting in each of the last four contests. Though Tauchman has regularly been serving as the White Sox's leadoff man, he hasn't provided much fantasy value in recent weeks, batting just .230 with one home run, no stolen bases, nine runs and eight RBI in 26 games since the start of August.

Niko Kavadas 1B | LAA
Angels' Niko Kavadas: Losing work to Peraza
Kavadas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Kavadas finds himself on the bench for the third time in four games, with all of his absences coming against right-handed pitchers. After going just 2-for-19 with 10 strikeouts following his Aug. 12 call-up from Triple-A Salt Lake, Kavadas appears set to play second fiddle at first base to Oswald Peraza until Nolan Schanuel (wrist) returns from the injured list.
