Yankees' Trent Grisham: Homers in return

Grisham went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks against the Blue Jays in Thursday's loss.

Grisham returned to the lineup after beginning on the bench in each of New York's previous two games due to a hamstring injury. The veteran outfielder reached three times in his return, with his lone hit being a solo blast to center field in the third inning. Grisham is up to 16 home runs through 74 games this season -- his career high is 17 long balls, which he slugged over 152 contests with the Padres in 2022.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Fills stat sheet in win

Story went 4-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in Friday's 11-2 win over the Nationals.

Story laced a two-run single in the fifth inning and later added a two-run blast in the eighth, notching his first four-hit game of the season as well as his first time homering and swiping a base in the same contest. The shortstop is riding a six-game hitting streak and has hit safely in eight of his past 10 games, with the latter stretch including seven extra-base hits, 13 RBI, nine runs scored and three stolen bases. For the year, Story is slashing .252/.293/.404 with 13 long balls, 51 RBI, 42 runs scored and 14 steals across 349 plate appearances.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Racks up four hits Thursday

Dominguez went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, a run and a stolen base Thursday in a loss to Toronto.

Among Dominguez's hits was his first career triple. This was the second time on the season that the 22-year-old has tallied four hits in a game, and both performances have come over the past 10 days. Dominguez has been very hot of late, recording five multi-hit efforts over his past nine contests and slashing .444/.444/.583 over that span. The productive stretch has pushed his season OPS up to .752 through 278 plate appearances.

  • Red Sox's Lucas Giolito: Season-high workload in win

Giolito (5-1) earned the win against the Nationals on Friday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts over 7.2 innings.

Giolito allowed a run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning but was otherwise dominant, throwing 75 strikes on a season-high 108 pitches. It was the 30-year-old's deepest outing of the season, and he's now yielded just three total earned runs across five straight quality starts dating back to June 10. He'll take a 3.66 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 58:21 K:BB across 66.1 innings into a favorable matchup with the Rockies next week.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

Angels' Yoan Moncada: Begins rehab assignment

Moncada (knee) is beginning his rehab assignment Friday in the Arizona Complex League.

Moncada has been on the shelf since June 1 with right knee inflammation and was sent to the ACL earlier this week, but Friday will be his first game action. Moncada slashed .237/.336/.505 with six home runs and zero steals in 30 games before the injury. He has a .268 ISO after not logging an ISO higher than .165 since 2019.

Orioles' Tyler O'Neill: Activated Friday as expected

O'Neill (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game in Atlanta.

  • Cam Schlittler SP | NYY

Yankees' Cam Schlittler: In mix to replace Schmidt

Manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Schlittler has "certainly put himself in the mix" to join the Yankees' rotation due to Clarke Schmidt (forearm) going on the 15-day injured list, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Boone called Schlittler an "exciting pitcher," which is not controversial, as Schlittler throws in the upper-90s with his fastball and had a 1.37 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 39 strikeouts in 26.1 innings over his five most recent starts prior to a blowup outing Wednesday in which he gave up six earned runs over 2.1 innings for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Schlittler is not on the 40-man roster, and if the Yankees don't look his way this time, it could be Allan Winans who serves as a spot starter next week before the All-Star break gives the club a chance to reset the rotation.

  • Jorge Polanco DH | NYM
