  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Moved to 60-day IL

Santander (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Santander had been on the 10-day IL due to a subluxation of his left shoulder since May 30, and his move to the 60-day IL means that he won't be eligible for activation until July 30. Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins mentioned near the end of June that the veteran outfielder was nearing the beginning of a hitting progression, but it appears that Santander remains several weeks away from being ready to return to action. Of late, Davis Schneider has been getting most of the starts in left field in Santander's stead.

  • Billy McKinney LF | TEX

Rangers' Billy McKinney: DFA'd by Texas

McKinney was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Friday.

McKinney's time with the big club lasted a mere four days, with the 30-year-old going 1-for-7 across two contests. The journeyman will clear out to make room for Evan Carter (personal), and McKinney will now be subjected to waivers.

  • Evan Carter CF | TEX

Rangers' Evan Carter: Back from bereavement list

Carter (personal) was reinstated from the bereavement list and is back in the lineup Friday, starting in center field and batting fifth against the Padres.

The 22-year-old Carter was demoted to Triple-A in April and also spent time on the injured list earlier this season with a Grade 2 quadriceps strain. He's turned it around at the dish since his return, however, slashing .333/.421/.530 with three homers and five steals across his last 21 games.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: On bench Friday

Kirk is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Kirk will get a well-deserved breather after starting all four games against the Yankees to begin the week, including making three starts at catcher. Tyler Heineman will step in behind the plate in place of Kirk, who is slashing a healthy .305/.358/.420 across 288 plate appearances so far this season.

  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Returning to action Friday

Gimenez (ankle) is back in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Gimenez seems to have already turned the page after an ankle issue forced him from Wednesday's game and kept him on the bench for Thursday's series finale against the Yankees. He will slot in atop the batting order, with Bo Bichette batting third against right-hander Kyle Hendricks in the absence of Vladimir Guerrero (foot).

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Sitting with foot issue

Guerrero is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels after fouling a ball off his foot Thursday night, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The Blue Jays haven't suggested Guerrero is dealing with a serious injury, but he will miss at least one start. It's unknown whether he underwent any sort of imaging after the incident. Will Wagner is starting at first base in Guerrero's absence.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Back in lineup Friday

Bichette (knee) is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

The shortstop stepped on a ball during batting practice Monday and missed almost the entire four-game set against the Yankees, though Bichette appeared off the bench Thursday, going 0-for-1. Now that he's feeling well enough to return to the lineup, Bichette will look to put the finishing touches on a resurgent first half in which he's slashed .272/.311/.426 with 11 homers and four steals over 380 plate appearances.

  • Fraser Ellard RP | CHW

White Sox's Fraser Ellard: Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A

The White Sox reinstated Ellard (lat) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Ellard held his opponents scoreless in each of his final five rehab appearances with Charlotte, but the White Sox will need to see more before returning the lefty to the major-league roster. He made seven appearances out of the Chicago bullpen before going down with the lat injury, posting a 6.75 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 6.2 innings.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Out of lineup Friday

Guerrero is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

There has been nothing yet to suggest a new injury is in play, so it seems Guerrero is simply getting a mental and physical break after an 0-for-5, three-strikeout showing in Thursday's series finale against the Yankees. Will Wagner will start at first base and bat eighth against right-hander Kyle Hendricks.

  • Vinny Capra 3B | BOS

White Sox's Vinny Capra: Designated for assignment

Capra was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Friday.

Capra was part of history earlier this week when he became Clayton Kershaw's 3,000th strikeout victim. Two days later, he's been bumped from the 40-man and 26-man rosters, as prospect Colson Montgomery comes up for his MLB debut. Capra provides defensive versatility but has slashed just .125/.157/.177 in 105 plate appearances this season between the Brewers and White Sox.
