  • Angels' Josh Lowe: On bench against lefty

Lowe is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Lowe will hit the bench for the second day in a row while the Angels face another lefty starter (Joey Cantillo) to begin their three-game set in Cleveland. Bryce Teodosio will cover left field in place of Lowe, who has gone 1-for-15 with zero walks and five strikeouts against southpaws on the season.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Homers in loss Tuesday

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the White Sox. Lowe's homer in the eighth inning off Jordan Leasure was his fourth of the season and first since April 17. The 28-year-old has really struggled at the plate in his first season with the Halos, slashing .192/.250/.370 with the four long balls, 10 RBI, seven runs scored, one stolen base and a 5:22 BB:K across 81 plate appearances. After swiping 75 bases for the Rays from 2023-25, Lowe was expected to be a source of power and speed from the left side for the Angels. He has a career-low 26.5 percent hard-hit rate.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Idle against LHP once again

Lowe is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. The left-handed-hitting Lowe will be held out of the starting nine for the second straight day while the Angels face off against another left-handed starting pitcher (Eric Lauer). In Lowe's absence, Bryce Teodosio will pick up another start in the outfield, this time covering center while Mike Trout occupies the designated-hitter spot.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Lifts two-run homer

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 8-0 win over the Padres. Lowe provided the Angels' last runs of the game with his fifth-inning blast off San Diego reliever David Morgan. Lowe has hit safely in three straight games while striking out three times in that span, an improvement from his rough showing early in the season. He's still hitting a paltry .167 with a .598 OPS, three homers, nine RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base over 18 contests.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Idle against lefty

Lowe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds. The Reds are sending a southpaw starter (Andrew Abbott) to the hill for the second straight day, so the left-handed-hitting Lowe will remain on the bench in the series finale in Cincinnati. Bryce Teodosio will receive the starting nod in left field.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Idle against southpaw

Lowe is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs. The left-handed-hitting Lowe will sit for the first time this season while the Angels face off against a lefty (Matthew Boyd) for the series finale in Chicago. Bryce Teodosio will spell Lowe in left field and will bat ninth.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Slugs homer Friday

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double in Friday's 6-2 win against Houston. Lowe broke a 1-1 tie with his three-run blast in the second inning. It was the veteran outfielder's first home run as a member of the Angels, who acquired him in a trade with Tampa Bay in mid-January. Lowe has shown the ability to hit for power before -- he swatted 20 home runs with an .835 OPS over 501 plate appearances with Tampa Bay in 2023 -- but he was limited by injuries over the subsequent two campaigns. Fantasy managers who roster Lowe are likely banking on a change of scenery being able to help him return to that 2023 form.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Slugs grand slam in spring grame

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a run-scoring triple Wednesday in a Cactus League win against the Angels. Lowe was limited to the DH spot again as he continues to be cautious following his return from an oblique injury, but he looked very healthy swinging the bat and running the bases. The veteran outfielder drove home a run with a triple in the first inning and then pushed the Angels ahead for good with a grand slam in the seventh. Lowe reportedly played the outfield for a portion of a minor-league spring game Tuesday, and the expectation is that he'll be ready to play in the field for the Angels by Opening Day.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Plays outfield Tuesday

Lowe (oblique) said he played the outfield Tuesday for a portion of a minor-league game on the back fields of camp, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. After sustaining an oblique injury in late February, Lowe was held out of action for more than two weeks before returning to the Angels' Cactus League lineup Saturday as a designated hitter. He'll make another start as a DH in Wednesday's split-squad game against the Reds, but Lowe doesn't seem worried about the oblique injury preventing him from playing the outfield on a more frequent basis once the season gets underway.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Strikes out three times in return

Lowe (oblique) served as the Angels' designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with a walk and three strikeouts in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Mariners in Cactus League play. Lowe checked back into the spring lineup for the first time since Feb. 25 after a sore left oblique kept him out of action. The Angels eased Lowe back in by having him serve as a DH, but he should get some exposure to the corner outfield in the coming days. Lowe has just one hit through 10 at-bats in the Cactus League, but regardless of how he performs over the rest of the spring, he's likely to begin the season in a strong-side platoon role for the Angels.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Takes part in intrasquad game

Lowe (oblique) stepped in for approximately eight plate appearances Wednesday during an intrasquad game and also ran the bases, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Lowe last played in a Cactus League game Feb. 25, but he took a monumental step forward in his recovery from a sore left oblique by facing live pitching for the first time since suffering the injury. The Angels plan on having Lowe play in minor-league games on the back fields of camp before reinserting him into the Cactus League lineup, but barring any further setbacks with his oblique over the next two weeks, he'll be on track to play Opening Day.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: To hit in minors games this weekend

Lowe (oblique) is likely to begin hitting in minor-league games this weekend, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Lowe has been limited to only three Cactus League contests because of a left oblique issue. Even with the missed time, the Angels believe Lowe can get in enough at-bats on the backfields to prepare for Opening Day. That said, with Lowe's history of oblique problems, a setback is possible.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Sitting with oblique injury

Manager Kurt Suzuki said Saturday that Lowe has been sidelined by an oblique injury for the past few days, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Lowe is no stranger to oblique issues, as they have forced him to spend time on the injured list in each of the past two seasons. Because of his history, the Angels will allow the 28-year-old to rest for a few more days as a precaution before giving him more reps in the Cactus League.

  • Angels' Josh Lowe: Dealt to Angels

Lowe was traded from the Rays to the Angels in a three-team deal Thursday that also includes the Reds, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The rest of the trade sends Gavin Lux and Chris Clark to Tampa Bay and Brock Burke to Cincinnati. Lowe recently agreed to a one-year contract with the Rays for a modest $2.6 million to avoid arbitration, but he's now headed to a new home. He has struggled to stay healthy the last two seasons, combining to play in only 214 games. His performance has also dipped in that span as he posted a .649 OPS in 2025, though he remains a solid source of power and stolen bases and could benefit from the change of scenery.

  • Rays' Josh Lowe: Out of Saturday's lineup

Lowe isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports. Lowe will retreat to the bench Saturday after going 1-for-3 with a walk during a loss in Friday's series opener. While he rests, Christopher Morel, Chandler Simpson and Jake Mangum will start across Tampa Bay's outfield.

  • Rays' Josh Lowe: Exiting starting nine

Lowe is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Baltimore. The left-handed-hitting Lowe has seen more opportunities against lefty hurlers this season, but he'll get a day off Thursday as the Orioles send southpaw Cade Povich to the bump. Jake Mangum is handling right field for the Rays.

  • Rays' Josh Lowe: Taking seat Wednesday

Lowe is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Right-hander Kevin Gausman has been more effective against lefties than righties both this season and for his career, so the Rays will hold out Lowe and fellow left-handed hitter Brandon Lowe for Wednesday's contest. Everson Pereira will step in for Josh Lowe in right field and will bat sixth.

  • Rays' Josh Lowe: Taking seat Friday

Lowe is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs. The left-handed-hitting Lowe has been playing against most lefties, but he'll take a seat in this one as the Cubs send southpaw Matthew Boyd to the bump. Jake Mangum will shift over to right field and Everson Pereira will patrol center field in Friday's series opener.

  • Rays' Josh Lowe: Goes yard Tuesday

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Tuesday's 5-4 win over the White Sox. Lowe swatted a two-run home run off Yoendrys Gomez in the second inning, his second home run in three games. The long ball was Lowe's 11th of the campaign, surpassing his 2024 total of 10 homers. In his last 16 games, Lowe is 18-for-58 (.310) with four home runs, four doubles, four stolen bases and a 3:15 BB:K.

  • Rays' Josh Lowe: Out Sunday with tight oblique

Lowe (oblique) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports. Lowe will take a seat for the second day in a row after he was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's 2-1 win when he felt his right oblique tighten up while taking swings in the batting cage prior to the game. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Lowe said he doesn't expect to require a stint on the injured list due to the oblique issue, though the Rays' plans for him could change if he's unable to return to the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees following Monday's team off day.
