Yimi Garcia RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Hits IL with ankle sprain
The Blue Jays placed Garcia on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left ankle sprain.
Garcia gave up two runs in one inning during his return from a shoulder injury Wednesday, taking a blown save but tallying a win in the process. He'll now end up back on the IL due to an ankle injury and will remain on the shelf through the All-Star break. Robinson Pina was recalled from Triple-A to fill the vacancy in Toronto's bullpen.

Hector Neris RP | HOU
Astros' Hector Neris: Returns to Houston
Neris agreed to a one-year, major-league contract with the Astros on Saturday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
After spending time with the Angels and Atlanta earlier this season, Neris will now return to Houston for his third stint with the Astros in the last four years. The 36-year-old right-hander will immediately be granted a spot in the big-league bullpen, despite owning a 7.80 ERA over 15 innings on the season. Houston is likely to deploy Neris in lower-leverage spots initially.

Clarke Schmidt SP | NYY
Yankees' Clarke Schmidt: TJ surgery likely
Manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that Schmidt (forearm) will likely need Tommy John surgery, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.
Schmidt landed on the injured list Friday after injuring his forearm during his start Thursday against Toronto. The 29-year-old righty is currently seeking a second opinion, but early indications point to him requiring surgery, which would put an end to his season and possibly keep him out for all of 2026 as well.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Sitting out Saturday
LeMahieu isn't in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Mets.
LeMahieu is sitting for the second time in New York's past three games while Oswald Peraza gets a start at the keystone. LeMahieu has posted a mediocre .659 OPS through 43 contests this season, but he's been better of late with four hits (all singles) and two walks over his last 11 plate appearances.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Not in lineup again Saturday
Goldschmidt isn't starting against the Mets on Saturday.
Goldschmidt is beginning on the bench for the second time in New York's past three contests amid the team's five-game losing streak. The veteran first baseman has four hits (including three doubles) over his past three appearances, but the Yankees are going with Cody Bellinger at first base Saturday, while Ben Rice is occupying the DH spot.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Not starting Saturday
Stanton isn't in the starting lineup Saturday against the Mets.
It's Stanton's second absence in New York's past three games. The slugger has gone just 3-for-23 over his past seven contests, and the Yankees may be looking for a spark elsewhere while in the midst of a rough stretch as a team. Ben Rice is getting a turn at DH in Stanton's stead Saturday.

Andres Gimenez SS | TOR
Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Not in lineup after hurting ankle
Gimenez (ankle) isn't in Saturday's starting lineup against the Angels.
Gimenez initially hurt his ankle Wednesday against the Yankees and missed one game before returning to action Friday. However, he was removed from that contest after apparently tweaking the injury on the basepaths, and he's now being held out Saturday. Gimenez underwent an MRI following Friday's game, but results of the imaging haven't yet been shared. With Gimenez out of action Saturday, Davis Schneider is starting at second base.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Back in action Saturday
Guerrero (foot) is starting at DH and batting third against the Angels on Saturday.
Guerrero sat out Friday's series opener after fouling a ball of his foot Thursday night, but he appears to have avoided a significant injury. While Toronto has elected to be cautious by slotting Guerrero in at DH instead of at first base, his presence in the lineup should elicit a sigh of relief from fantasy managers who roster him. Will Wagner is getting another start at first base Saturday, and it's unclear how long Guerrero will be held out from playing the field.

Wilyer Abreu RF | BOS
Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: On bench versus lefty
Abreu is not starting Saturday versus the Nationals, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
As has been the case regularly this season, Abreu will begin on the bench against an opposing lefty starter (Mitchell Parker). Roman Anthony is manning right field for the Red Sox on Saturday while Rob Refsnyder is getting a turn at DH.

Red Sox's Marcelo Mayer: Beginning on bench Saturday
Mayer is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus Washington, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Mayer had started four straight games after coming off the bereavement list Monday, but he'll get at least a partial rest day Saturday against Nationals lefty Mitchell Parker. With Mayer out of the lineup, Nate Eaton is starting at third base and batting leadoff while Romy Gonzalez is playing second base.
