Manager John Schneider said Guerrero, who is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, was diagnosed with left hamstring inflammation and is considered day-to-day, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old suffered the injury during Monday's contest, but an MRI showed that he's avoided a serious injury. The Blue Jays have a scheduled day off Thursday, and Guerrero could be held out again Wednesday if the club chooses to play it safe with the franchise first baseman.

Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that McCullers (finger) will rejoin the rotation Friday in Baltimore, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Coming back from a blister, McCullers permitted just one run while fanning five batters over five innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Sugar Land last Friday. The right-hander threw 80 pitches in that outing, so he shouldn't have any major workload limitations against the Orioles.

Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that Robles received a 10-game suspension for throwing his bat in a Triple-A rehab game Sunday, and he is expected to appeal the ban, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Robles has gone 5-for-15 with two doubles during the rehab assignment, but he was also hit by three pitches before the inciting pitch that struck him Sunday, which was ruled a strike since he swung the bat. The suspension, whether it remains at 10 games or is reduced, won't begin until the outfielder is activated from the injured list. The Mariners will have to play a man down during the ban, so the club seems likely to wait until MLB rosters expand Sept. 1 before reinstating Robles.

Clarke has been shut down from baseball activities after he was diagnosed Tuesday with a Grade 2 right adductor strain, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Clarke recently suffered a setback while on a rehab assignment, and his new strain is in a slightly different spot than the one that initially sent him to the 10-day injured list in late July. The rookie outfielder is without a timeline for a return.

The Mariners transferred Thornton (Achilles) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Sauryn Lao. Thornton is out for the season after tearing his left Achilles on July 31.

The Mariners optioned Legumina to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Legumina has collected an 11.57 ERA since the beginning of July and was knocked around for five runs in a relief outing in Monday's 12-7 loss to Philadelphia. He'll try to get back on track at Tacoma.

The Mariners optioned Kowar to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Kowar had allowed four runs over 2.1 innings covering his last three relief appearances. He'll head to Tacoma for now but could get another opportunity in the Seattle bullpen later on this season.

The Mariners selected Lao's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Lao was removed from the 40-man roster earlier this season after making one relief appearance, but he's earned his way back on with a 1.37 ERA over his last five outings at Tacoma. The 26-year-old will likely be used in low-leverage spots.

Guerrero (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

The first baseman was headed for an MRI after exiting Monday's game due to left hamstring tightness, and he'll be held out of the starting nine for at least one contest. Guerrero should continue to be considered day-to-day until the MRI results are announced.

The Mariners activated Miller (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Miller is set to make his return to the Mariners' rotation Tuesday with a start on the road in Philadelphia. The right-hander has been sidelined for more than two months with inflammation in his pitching elbow. Miller threw 76 pitches in his final rehab start, so he will likely be slightly limited from a workload perspective versus the Phillies.
