The Guardians reinstated Manzardo from the family medical emergency list Thursday.

Manzardo will rejoin the team after missing the minimum of three games while tending to a personal matter. He should slide right back into his usual spot as Cleveland's DH versus right-handers, whom he is slashing .220/.292/.402 against this season. Jhonkensy Noel was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed Thursday that Bregman (quadriceps) will be activated from the 10-day injured list this weekend, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Cora added that Bregman will be in the lineup for two of the final three games of a four-game set against the Rays, although the skipper didn't specify which games it would be. Bregman has been sidelined since late May due to a strained right quad and will rejoin the active roster without a rehab assignment.

Mangum isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game versus Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

After starting the month of July, 7-for-28 with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored in seven games, Mangum will take a seat against Walker Buehler and the Red Sox on Thursday. Christopher Morel will fill the open spot in left field and bat seventh.

Jansen isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Jansen will head to the bench to begin Tampa Bay's four-game set against Boston after going 2-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored during the Rays' previous series in Detroit. Matt Thaiss will catch for Taj Bradley instead Thursday and bat eighth.

Lowe (side) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Thursday will mark the fourth consecutive start Lowe has missed since tweaking his left side during Sunday's contest. The Rays haven't indicated that the 31-year-old will need to spend time on the IL, though that could change if he's unable to return to the starting nine soon. While Lowe continues to recover, Taylor Walls will pick up another start at the keystone and bat ninth.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Yarbrough (oblique) resumed a throwing program Wednesday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

It's a good step for the lefty, but Yarbrough hasn't pitched in more than three weeks, so it's going to take some time for him to be built back up. He will likely require at least one rehab start before rejoining the Yankees' active roster, and by that time it's uncertain whether he will still have a rotation spot waiting for him.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that he's hopeful Leiter (leg) can resume a throwing program this weekend, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Leiter landed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a left fibular head stress fracture, an injury he actually suffered two weeks prior. It shouldn't take Leiter long to ramp back up from a stamina standpoint, but it's uncertain how his leg will respond to increased activity.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Schmidt will undergo Tommy John surgery on his injured right elbow Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Boone said this past weekend that Tommy John surgery was the likely route for Schmidt, and now the operation has been scheduled. The Yankees could have more information following the procedure regarding a potential timetable for Schmidt, but there's a good chance he won't pitch again in the big leagues until 2027.

The Athletics optioned Spence to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday.

The transaction comes one day after Spence was torched for eight runs over six innings in a loss to Atlanta. Spence was not scheduled for another start before the All-Star break, so the A's have replaced him with some bullpen protection in the form of Osvaldo Bido. It's possible Spence gets another chance in the big-league rotation after the All-Star break, although he won't be eligible to be recalled until July 25.

The Athletics recalled Bido from Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday.

Since being sent down to the minors in mid-June, Bido has given up six earned runs over eight innings while striking out nine batters and walking three with Las Vegas. He hasn't performed well in the majors either, sporting a 6.14 ERA through 48.1 frames, but he'll join the big club regardless as a replacement for Mitch Spence. The A's won't need a fifth starter until late July, so Bido will likely work out of the bullpen heading into the All-Star break.
