Ken Waldichuk SP | WAS
Athletics' Ken Waldichuk: Activated, optioned to Triple-A
The Athletics activated Waldichuk (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Waldichuk underwent Tommy John surgery last May and had spent all season on the injured list up to this point. He kicked off a minor-league rehab assignment in late June and tallied a 7.63 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 17:16 K:BB over 15.1 innings spanning six appearances between Single-A Stockton and Las Vegas. The lefty threw 141 frames for the Athletics in 2023 and could certainly make his way back to the big club in due time, but he'll likely first need to harness his control issues in the minors before getting a look in the MLB rotation.

Jarren Duran LF | BOS
Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Out of lineup Saturday
Duran isn't starting against the Cubs on Saturday.
The Cubs are sending southpaw Shota Imanaga to the mound, so the lefty-hitting Duran will be on the bench to begin the contest. Duran has a poor .564 OPS against lefties this season. Rob Refsnyder is getting the start in left field for Boston on Saturday.

Steven Kwan LF | CLE
Guardians' Steven Kwan: Remaining out Saturday
Kwan (wrist) isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's matchup versus the Athletics.
Kwan is sitting out a second straight game due to a right wrist injury. The veteran outfielder was able to participate in Tuesday's All-Star Game, going 1-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base, but the wrist issue had reportedly been bothering him since before that contest. With Kwan sitting Saturday, the Guardians' starting outfield consists of Nolan Jones, Angel Martinez and Johnathan Rodriguez from left to right.

Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Getting breather Saturday
O'Hoppe is not starting Saturday's game against Philadelphia, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
O'Hoppe started behind the plate Friday in the Angels' first game of the second half and went 2-for-4 with a triple. However, he's stepping aside Saturday while Travis d'Arnaud gets a turn at catcher.
