Freddy Fermin C | SD
Royals' Freddy Fermin: Resting up Sunday
Fermin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Fermin had started three of the Royals' previous four games, but he'll get a breather while Salvador Perez covers first base and Luke Maile gets a turn behind the plate. Though the Royals recently bolstered their lineup with the acquisition of Randal Grichuk, the absence of Jac Caglianone (hamstring) should allow Fermin's playing time to remain relatively stable while Perez continues to see more starts at first base or designated hitter rather than catcher.

Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH
Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Managing fatigue
Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said that Kurtz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros due to lower-body soreness/fatigue, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Kurtz went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run in Saturday's 5-1 win after his historic 6-for-6 performance Friday that included four home runs, eight RBI and six runs. The rookie will get a well-deserved break Sunday, with Kotsay characterizing Kurtz's absence from the lineup as more of a rest day, even though the skipper conceded that Kurtz was dealing with some fatigue. Kurtz will still be available off the bench Sunday and should return to the lineup for Monday's series opener versus the Mariners.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Not ready to start Sunday
Buxton (side) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
Buxton will sit out the series finale while he awaits the results of the imaging he underwent on his side following an early exit Saturday. Harrison Bader will pick up the start in center field Sunday, and Buxton should be considered day-to-day heading into a three-game series versus the Red Sox that begins Monday.

Cole Sands RP | MIN
Twins' Cole Sands: Serving as opener Sunday
Sands will serve as the Twins' opening pitcher in Sunday's game against the Nationals.
He'll serve as an opener for the third time this season after lasting no more than two innings in starts July 5 and July 12. It's not clear whether Sands will be followed by a bulk reliever such as Travis Adams, or if the Twins will use a true bullpen day.

Kyle Teel C | CHW
White Sox's Kyle Teel: Resting Sunday
Teel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.
Teel will get a breather after he caught all nine innings of Saturday night's 6-1 loss. Edgar Quero will spell Teel behind the plate in the series finale.

Jose Caballero SS | NYY
Rays' Jose Caballero: On bench Sunday
Caballero is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
Caballero will hit the bench after starting the previous four games, and his outlook for playing time appears to have improved with Ha-Seong Kim (back) and Brandon Lowe (foot) both on the injured list. With Caballero out of the lineup, the Rays will turn to Tristan Gray at second base while Taylor Walls handles shortstop.
