Mateo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Mateo will head to the bench Wednesday after driving in a pair of runs in Baltimore's win Tuesday. Joey Ortiz will get the start at shortstop in Mateo's stead.

Allen went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a walk in an extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Allen's third multi-hit effort in the last five games -- including his second three-hit tally in that span -- was highlighted by his first home run of the season, a 381-foot shot to left in the third inning that knotted the game at 2-2. The young shortstop is hitting a blistering .474 over that five-game sample, raising his average a whopping 119 points to .217 in the process.

Bogaerts will start at shortstop and bat leadoff Wednesday versus the Royals, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Manny Machado (hand) is on the bench again and the San Diego lineup had another rough showing Tuesday, so manager Bob Melvin is shaking things up. Fernando Tatis will drop down in the third spot with Bogaerts elevated to leadoff.

Tovar is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The slick-fielding shortstop will take a seat for the first time since April 21, ending a stretch of 22 straight starts during which he produced a .720 OPS. Alan Trejo will check in at shortstop for the rookie.

Rojas is not in the starting lineup against the Twins on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Rojas continues to impress with the glove but not so much with the bat, and the Dodgers will give the veteran shortstop a day of rest before a four-game series against the Cardinals starting Thursday. Chris Taylor will play shortstop and hit eighth against Minnesota on Wednesday.

Diaz is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Diaz will take a seat for the second time in three games after he went 1-for-6 with a run scored in Tuesday's 9-8 win in 12 innings. Nick Allen will replace him at shortstop and bat ninth in the series finale with Arizona.

McLain is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Rockies.

McLain will get a breather after he went 2-for-8 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored, a walk and four strikeouts over his first two major-league games. Jose Barrero will draw the start at shortstop and bat eighth in the series finale with Colorado.

Wendle went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a steal in Tuesday's victory over the Nationals.

Miami scored its first two runs after Wendle grounded into a fielder's choice, followed by an error in the second inning. The 33-year-old Wendle would add a single in the fifth before picking up his first stolen base of the season. Overall, it's been a rough start to the year for Wendle. He's just 4-for-32 through his first 11 contests, though three of his four hits have gone for extra bases. The left-handed-hitting Wendle will likely remain in a platoon role with Jon Berti and Garrett Hampson at shortstop.

Marcano is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Tigers.

Marcano will take a seat as the Pirates take on left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. Chris Owings will draw the start at shortstop and bat eighth in the series finale with Detroit.

Berti notched a stolen base and scored a run in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

Berti swiped second base after replacing Luis Arraez as a pinch runner in the ninth inning before scoring on Jorge Soler's walk-off home run. Berti is now 7-for-10 on stolen base attempts this season after leading the league with 41 steals a year ago. The 33-year-old Berti has been swinging the bat well despite shifting into a utility role. He's slashing .333/.397/.439 in his last 19 games, boosting his line to .271/.320/.364 with two home runs, eight RBI and 17 runs scored through 130 plate appearances on the campaign.
