Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU
Athletics' Aledmys Diaz: Back from IL
The Athletics reinstated Diaz (hamstring) from the injured list Sunday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. He'll start at third base and bat seventh in the series finale with the Rangers.
Diaz ended up missing just a few days beyond the 10-day minimum due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain. The Athletics optioned Kevin Smith to Triple-A Las Vegas to clear room on the 26-man active roster for Diaz, who should settle back into a full-time role in the infield.

Jeremy Pena SS | HOU
Astros' Jeremy Pena: Receives first day off
Pena is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Pena started the first 39 games of the season for Houston, and he'll receive a well-earned breather for Sunday's series finale in Chicago. Mauricio Dubon will shift to shortstop while David Hensley starts at second base.

Joey Wendle 2B | ATL
Marlins' Joey Wendle: Out of Sunday's lineup
Wendle is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Wendle is 3-for-20 with a double, two triples, two RBI and a run in six games since being activated from the injured list last weekend, and he'll head to the bench Sunday after he started the past five games. Jon Berti will take over at shortstop in the series finale versus Cincinnati.

Anthony Volpe SS | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Collects two more steals
Volpe went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run in Saturday's 9-8 victory versus the Rays.
Volpe struck out three times in the contest, but he also displayed his most dynamic asset in the sixth. The rookie led off that frame with a bunt single, then proceeded to swipe both second and third base before coming home on a wild pitch. Volpe has gone a perfect 13-for-13 on theft attempts this season, and he ranks fifth overall in the league in that category. Strikeouts are a problem -- he has posted a 28.6 percent strikeout rate -- but Volpe has played well enough to maintain his role as New York's everyday shortstop.

Zachary Neto SS | LAA
Angels' Zach Neto: Belts second homer
Neto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's loss to Cleveland.
Neto's two-run smash in the top of the eighth inning gave Los Angeles what looked to be a secure 6-2 lead, but the Guardians rallied with six runs in the bottom of the frame to steal a victory. The long ball was the second of the campaign for Neto, though both have come in his past four contests. The rookie is holding his own as the Angels' primary shortstop, slashing .247/.323/.371 with a solid 16.2 percent strikeout rate, though he's drawn just three walks over 99 plate appearances.
-
Jorge Mateo SS | ATL
Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Sits amid slump
Mateo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Mateo started the past five games and will head to the bench after going 1-for-18 during that stretch. The 27-year-old had a 1.062 OPS in his first 24 games of the season, but he's struggled to a .105/.128/.132 slash line through 11 contests in May. Joey Ortiz is taking over at shortstop in Sunday's series finale.
-
Jose Barrero SS | BAL
Reds' Jose Barrero: Sits for series finale
Barrero is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
Barrero went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 6-5 win, but he also struck out three times and is now sitting on a 28.8 percent strikeout rate for the season. He's posted a modest .588 OPS over his last 15 games and could begin to lose work at shortstop to Kevin Newman, who will replace him in the lineup for the second time in four games.
-
Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Twins' Carlos Correa: Clubs sixth homer
Correa went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 11-1 rout of the Cubs.
He piled up his production after the game was well in hand, connecting on a solo shot in the seventh inning and a two-run single in the eighth. Correa is showing signs of life at the plate -- he's cracked an extra-base hit in four straight games and has three of his six homers on the season in May, along with 11 of his 21 RBI -- but through 11 contests on the month he's still batting just .196 (9-for-46).
-
Pablo Reyes RF | SD
Red Sox's Pablo Reyes: Makes team debut
Reyes started at second base and went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Cardinals.
Acquired from the Athletics on Friday, Reyes was added to the 40-man roster and made his debut Saturday. The Red Sox are dealing with multiple injuries at middle infield, and Reyes is on board to help. The club has been without Trevor Story (elbow) and Adalberto Mondesi (knee) all season, then Yu Chang (wrist) and Christian Arroyo (hamstring) joined them on the injured list. Reyes will share second base with Enmanuel Valdez and could also spell shortstop Enrique Hernandez, who made his ninth error of the season Saturday.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Plays third rehab game
Seager (hamstring) started at shortstop and went 0-for-2 with a walk in Saturday's game for Double-A Frisco.
Seager is on a rehab assignment at Frisco and made his third straight start for the RoughRiders. He's started twice at shortstop and once as the designated hitter. Seager hasn't yet played a full nine-inning game, but it's uncertain if that is a criterion for his return to the majors. The Rangers planned to evaluate him following the weekend series and could activate him early this week.
