  • Joseph Ortiz SS | MIL

Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Out of Milwaukee lineup

Ortiz is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in San Diego.

Ortiz started the previous six games and had at least one hit in each of those contests, but he'll get some rest in Wednesday's series finale. Andruw Monasterio will replace him at shortstop and bat eighth.

  • Cameron Cauley SS | TEX

Rangers' Cameron Cauley: Finishes season in style

Cauley slashed .276/.333/.530 with nine home runs, seven steals and a 23.9 percent strikeout rate in his final 44 games for Double-A Frisco.

Cauley finished the season in style, going 4-for-4 with a walk-off home run in the final game of the season Sept. 14 against Northwest Arkansas. Long known as a fantastic athlete and versatile up-the-middle defender, Cauley's strikeout issues have held him back in prior years. He struck out 29.2 percent of the time as a 21-year-old at High-A last year and 31.6 percent of the time in the lower levels in 2023, so the fact he logged his best strikeout rate as a pro (24.7 percent) in his first season at Double-A is an encouraging sign. Cauley split time between shortstop (45 starts), center field (42 starts) and second base (25 starts) this season and should get added to the 40-man roster this winter to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Closing in on 20 homers

Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees.

He provided all the offense for the White Sox by taking Luis Gil deep in the sixth inning. It was Montgomery's 19th homer of the year in the big leagues and his 30th across all levels, but his first since Sept. 5, snapping a 14-game power drought. Through his first 66 MLB contests, the rookie shortstop is slashing .221/.295/.498 with a 29.5 percent strikeout rate.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Plates three runs Tuesday

Lindor went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Cubs.

Lindor opened up the game with a leadoff home run versus Cade Horton and later plated additional runs in the fifth and sixth. Tuesday marked Lindor's first game with multiple RBI since Aug. 29, but he's now recorded a hit in 11 straight games, including homers in back-to-back. Lindor is one home run away from achieving the 30-homer mark for a third straight season and he's now up to 83 RBI and 113 runs in 2025.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Knocks in two

Tovar went 1-for-3 with two RBI on Tuesday against the Mariners.

Tovar went through a six-game hitless streak in mid-September, but he's followed that by collecting at least one hit in six of his last eight starts. He delivered a two-RBI single in the sixth inning of Tuesday's contest, giving him four RBI in that same eight-game span. Tovar is wrapping up a disappointing season, posting only 29 extra-base hits and a .141 ISO across 370 plate appearances.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Walks it off

Perdomo went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Dodgers.

The Diamondbacks were down a run entering the bottom of the ninth inning, but contributions came from the bottom of the order and eventually Perdomo produced a walk-off win. The shortstop singled in the game-winning run, and the two-hit night extended a hit streak to 12 games, during which he's slashing .409/.536/.682 with seven extra-base hits (two HR), nine walks, two steals and seven RBI. His strong finish highlights what has been a breakout season worthy of MVP consideration. Perdomo has a 6.9 fWAR (fifth in MLB) and 6.8 bWAR (third).

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Drives in pair

Witt went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 8-4 victory over the Angels.

Witt contributed to the hit parade with two hits base knocks, including a two-run double in the eighth inning that put the Royals' lead out of reach. The shortstop has finished the regular season strong, posting a 1.007 OPS with six extra-base hits and six RBI over his past eight games. While his 2025 numbers don't quite match his monster 2024 campaign (.977 OPS with 30 homers and 30 steals), he's still delivered an impressive .853 OPS with 44 doubles, six triples, 23 homers, 84 RBI and 37 stolen bases across 152 games.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Giants' Willy Adames: Posts steal in loss

Adames went 2-for-5 with a double, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 9-8 loss to the Cardinals.

Adames played a big part in the Giants' third-inning rally, knocking in a run with a single, stealing second and scoring in that frame. This was the shortstop's first multi-hit effort since Sept. 13 versus the Dodgers -- he had gone just 3-for-30 with nine walks and 12 strikeouts over his previous nine games. He's now at a .226/.319/.417 slash line with 28 home runs, 84 RBI, 91 runs scored and 12 stolen bases over 156 contests in what's been a mixed bag of a first year with San Francisco for the 30-year-old.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Gets on base four times in win

Wilson went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, one RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Astros.

This was the shortstop's sixth multi-hit effort in September. He's batting .343 (24-for-70) this month while adding seven extra-base hits but just five RBI over 19 contests. Wilson has maintained a steady presence in the lineup, slashing .318/.362/.453 with 13 home runs, 25 doubles, 60 RBI, 62 runs scored and five stolen bases through 121 games overall.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Swats homer in loss

De La Cruz went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Tuesday's loss to Pittsburgh.

De La Cruz's second-inning home run was the only source of offense for the Reds. It was his second long ball in his last four appearances after finally snapping a 43-game drought. He entered August with an .852 OPS, but he's now sporting a .784 OPS through 677 plate appearances. De La Cruz has 21 homers, 59 extra-base hits and 36 stolen bases this season.
