Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Suffers fractured wrist
Cleveland placed Arias on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a fractured right wrist.
Arias suffered the injury in the fourth inning of Tuesday's loss to the Reds and will finish the 2023 campaign with a .210/.275/.352 slash line, 10 homers, 26 RBI, three steals and 36 runs in 122 major-league games. Brayan Rocchio has been summoned from Triple-A Columbus to help out at shortstop.

Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE
Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Recalled from Columbus
Cleveland recalled Rocchio from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.
Rocchio will start at shortstop and bat sixth Wednesday against the Reds as Gabriel Arias heads to an early shutdown because of a fractured wrist. Rocchio, 22, has flashed good speed this season at the Triple-A level but carries a rough .242/.271/.303 batting line with 22 strikeouts through his first 70 major-league plate appearances.

Kyren Paris SS | LAA
Angels' Kyren Paris: Undergoes thumb surgery
Paris underwent surgery Monday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, MLB.com reports.
Paris suffered the injury Sept. 16, and his season officially ended a couple days after that when he was placed on the 60-day injured list. He'll be rehabbing at the beginning of the offseason but is expected to be 100 percent for spring training.

Tim Anderson 2B | LAA
White Sox's Tim Anderson: On bench Wednesday
Anderson is not in the lineup Wednesday versus the Diamondbacks.
Anderson is in the midst of a slump, having gone 1-for-12 in his last three games. The shortstop did not play Sunday after going 0-for-8 over the prior two games. Elvis Andrus will shift to shortstop while Zach Remillard receives a start at second base.

Elly De La Cruz SS | CIN
Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Powers comeback win Tuesday
De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI in Tuesday's 11-7 win over the Guardians.
Hunter Greene dug an early hole in what was nearly a must-win game for Cincinnati, but De La Cruz led a five-homer barrage by the Reds offense to mount a comeback, launching a solo shot off Lucas Giolito in the fourth inning before crushing a Xzavion Curry curveball to right field in the ninth for two insurance runs. It's the first multi-homer game of De La Cruz's brief career, and the long balls snapped a 28-game power drought. The 21-year-old is slashing just .192/.306/.288 in September thanks in large part to a 31.4 percent strikeout rate, but he still has 13 home runs and 33 steals in his first 94 big-league games.

Jeremy Pena SS | HOU
Astros' Jeremy Pena: Three-hit effort in loss
Pena went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Mariners.
All three of Pena's hits were singles. The shortstop had endured a sophomore slump for part of the campaign, but he's hitting .297 (27-for-91) in September. That's lifted his season batting average to .264 with a .707 OPS, 10 home runs, 13 stolen bases, 51 RBI and 81 runs scored over 146 contests. He's locked in for a starting role, though he still hits in the bottom third of the lineup regularly.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: X-rays negative
X-rays on Seager's right forearm came back negative after he got hit by a pitch during Tuesday's loss against the Angels, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
Seager remained in the game after getting hit by a 93-mph Reid Detmers fastball, but he was eventually pulled in the sixth after the Angels took a 9-1 lead. The Rangers will check back in with Seager on Wednesday, and his availability will likely hinge on how sore his forearm feels at that point.

Josh H. Smith SS | TEX
Rangers' Josh Smith: Homers off bench Tuesday
Smith went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-3 loss to the Angels.
Corey Seager (forearm) had to exit the game, so Smith filled in at shortstop and delivered a ninth-inning homer. The long ball was Smith's first since Sept. 4, though he's seen little playing time since Josh Jung returned from the injured list. With the Rangers still in the thick of the playoff race, Seager's potential absence looms large. Smith has hit an ugly .137 (10-for-73) since the start of August, so Ezequiel Duran, who has batted .248 in that same stretch, could be the better option to fill in at shortstop if Seager misses time.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Notches 13th homer
Edman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Brewers.
Just a few days after reaching the 25-steal milestone, Edman tied his career high in home runs Tuesday with his 13th blast. The long ball was his first of September. Edman is 9-for-31 (.290) with one RBI and three runs scored overall in his last eight games.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Notches 19th steal
Bogaerts went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Giants.
Bogaerts has gone 20-for-49 (.408) with four steals over his last 11 games. The shortstop is at 19 thefts on the year, as well as 19 home runs, putting him just shy of his first 20-20 campaign with four games left on the schedule. He's at a .283/.350/.441 slash line over 151 contests this season.
