Vidal Brujan 2B | NYM
Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Back on bench Thursday
Brujan is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Brujan had started in five of the previous six games, with the first three coming at third base and the last two coming at shortstop. He had been filling in for Tim Anderson (thumb) the past two days, but Anderson is on track to return to his usual spot at shortstop for the series finale with the Rockies. Brujan looks set to vie with Emmanuel Rivera for playing time at the hot corner moving forward, though both could be headed for reserve roles soon with Jake Burger (oblique) having already initiated a rehab assignment and poised to return from the 10-day injured list in the near future.

Tim Anderson 2B | LAA
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Back in action Thursday
Anderson (thumb) will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Thursday's game versus the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Anderson missed two starts with a mild left thumb sprain, which he suffered during Monday's 7-2 loss to the Nationals. The Marlins were hoping for a bounce-back season from the veteran shortstop following a disastrous 2023 campaign, but Anderson has actually been worse so far in 2024, slashing a mere .221/.267/.253 over 29 games.

Twins' Willi Castro: Three hits, steal in win
Castro went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the White Sox.

The 27-year-old Castro added two homers, 13 runs scored, 12 RBI and three stolen bases while serving as the Twins' primary third baseman in the absence of Royce Lewis (quadriceps).

Francisco Lindor SS | NYM
Mets' Francisco Lindor: Removed early Wednesday
Lindor was removed from Wednesday's game against the Cubs after exhibiting flu-like symptoms, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Lindor was feeling sick ahead of the third inning and was replaced at shortstop by Joey Wendle, who could be in line to start Thursday's series finale if Lindor isn't feeling better by then. The 30-year-old All-Star went 0-for-1 before leaving Wednesday's game and now carries a .195 average on the year.

Jacob Amaya SS | ARI
Astros' Jacob Amaya: Recalled from Triple-A
The Astros recalled Amaya from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
With Chas McCormick (hamstring) headed for the 10-day IL, Amaya will come up from the minors to give the Astros an additional bench bat. However, the 25-year-old infielder is slashing just .190/.297/.302 across 74 plate appearances at Triple-A, so he likely won't see much playing time while with Houston.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Diamondbacks' Kevin Newman: Not in starting lineup
Newman is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's outing versus the Dodgers.
The 30-year-old infielder will get a break with Blaze Alexander starting at shortstop Wednesday as the Diamondbacks finish out their series against Los Angeles. Newman has started at shortstop in six of Arizona's last 10 games and is slashing .157/.189/.314 on the season.

Romy Gonzalez 2B | BOS
Red Sox's Romy Gonzalez: On track to begin rehab assignment
Gonzalez (wrist) is likely to begin a rehab assignment Thursday or Friday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
Gonzalez's recovery from a left wrist sprain has come along more slowly than expected, but he looks to be closing in on the final step of his recovery program. He's been out since mid-April and shouldn't need too many at-bats in the minors before being activated, assuming all goes well.

Red Sox's Vaughn Grissom: Aiming to be available Friday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that he's hopeful that Grissom (hamstring/illness) will be ready to return from the 10-day injured list for Friday's game in Minnesota, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
Grissom had been slated for his season and Red Sox debut Tuesday after overcoming a hamstring injury, but he's been delayed due to an illness. Once activated, Grissom is likely to serve as the Red Sox's everyday second baseman.
