McGonigle went 0-for-2 with three walks and two runs scored in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Twins.

While he didn't record any hits, McGonigle was still able to get on base frequently due to his good eye at the plate. The rookie now has 42 walks this season in 65 games versus only 38 strikeouts, and his .394 on-base percentage reflects his patient approach. McGonigle is locked in as Detroit's primary leadoff hitter, and he's having a tremendous debut campaign from a fantasy perspective.

Pena isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Pena will take a day to regroup after going 0-for-10 with two walks, four strikeouts and two steals over his last three games. While he rests, Shay Whitcomb will make a start at shortstop and bat seventh.

Griffin (elbow) did some flat-ground throwing from out to 90 feet Wednesday at about 75 percent intensity, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Griffin threw for the first time since he landed on the 10-day injured list May 31 due to a flexor strain in his right elbow. He also took part in fielding drills without throwing, which is something the rookie has done since first going on the IL. Griffin remains without a timeline to rejoin the Pirates' active roster, but more clarity on that front should become available as he continues to ramp up his throwing.

Gimenez is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Phillies.

Gimenez was an everyday player early on in the season, but the left-handed hitter has been out of the lineup against against most southpaws since late April. Ernie Clement will slide over to shortstop for the Blue Jays, and Charles McAdoo will enter the lineup at second base.

Montgomery (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

The White Sox will keep Montgomery on the bench for a second straight night while he manages a tight back. Montgomery is being viewed as day-to-day, and at this point, the White Sox haven't indicated that he's at major risk of landing on the injured list. His continued absence from the lineup will open up another start at shortstop for Luisangel Acuna.

Reds manager Terry Francona said Wednesday that De La Cruz (hamstring) is scheduled to take part in infield drills for the second day in a row and will undergo a follow-up MRI on Friday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

If the MRI reveals that De La Cruz has healed from his right hamstring strain as anticipated, he could increase the intensity of his workouts beginning next week. When De La Cruz was first placed on the shelf June 1, Francona indicated that the star shortstop would likely miss around 2-to-4 weeks, and there's little to suggest that his timeline has changed. Matt McLain has taken over as the Reds' primary shortstop since De La Cruz landed on the shelf, which has opened up more work for Edwin Arroyo and Spencer Steer at the keystone.

Giants manager Tony Vitello said that Adames is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals after experiencing some lower-half pain from his "knee to hip" during Tuesday's 6-3 loss, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Despite dealing with some discomfort, Adames still played the full nine innings Tuesday, finishing 0-for-4 with a walk. The veteran shortstop will hit the bench for just the second time all season Wednesday, but Vitello indicated that Adames shouldn't be headed for any further absences. The Giants are hoping that getting a game off from starting coupled with Thursday's off day will provide enough time for Adames to recover from the issue and rejoin the lineup Friday versus the Cubs.

Abrams is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in San Francisco.

Abrams had started every contest since April 26, but he will receive some well-earned rest during Wednesday's series finale. Nasim Nunez will shift over to shortstop to cover for Abrams, and Jorbit Vivas will handle second base.

Adames is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals.

Adames will get just his second day off of the season and first since April after going 0-for-17 with a 1:9 BB:K over his last four contests. Casey Schmitt will fill in at shortstop for the Giants while Adames gets a breather.

Wilson (thumb) has gone 3-for-9 with two RBI and a 1:2 BB:K in his first three rehab games between High-A Everett and Triple-A Tacoma.

Wilson began his rehab assignment with Everett last Friday and moved up to Tacoma on Tuesday. He's been shelved since early May with a fractured left thumb and could need a few more rehab games before the Mariners consider returning him to their active roster.
