Owings will start at second base and bat sixth Thursday against the Phillies.

It's only the third start of the season for Owings at the keystone, with the utility man having instead received most of his playing time in right field as a replacement for the injured Steven Souza (pectoral). Souza should be back at some point in May, but until then, the versatile Owings will likely handle at least semi-regular work. Owings has been included in the lineup for four of the Diamondbacks' last five games and is slashing .250/.328/.367 with a home run, seven RBI and a stolen base across 67 plate appearances this season.

Pennington was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.

Pennington only recorded 34 plate appearances during his time with Cincinnati, as he struggled to a .138/.265/.138 slash line with zero extra-base hits and 13 strikeouts. The infielder wasn't able to secure more playing time when Eugenio Suarez went down with a thumb injury, and now the latter is returning from the disabled list to take Pennington's spot on the active roster. Additionally, the Reds recalled Rosell Herrera and sent Phillip Ervin down to Louisville.

Herrera will join the Reds prior to Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Herrera has yet to play in a major-league game over the course of his eight-year professional career but was added to Cincinnati's 40-man roster and recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Thursday. Over 15 games with Louisville this season, he's hit .311/.373/.607 with three home runs and 10 RBI. Expect him to be utilized as a reserve utility man who can play all around the diamond.

Seager (hip) received soft-tissue therapy following Wednesday's game and said he feels fine, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Seager said he felt "a little blip" in his hip after he slipped while tracking a popup during the ninth inning Wednesday, though the shortstop -- along with manager Dave Roberts -- didn't seem worried about the issue afterwards. With an off-day Thursday, Seager will hopefully be ready to go for Friday's series opener against the Giants.

Seager was being evaluated by trainers after Wednesday's loss to the Marlins, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Seager appeared to twist his ankle after he slipped while chasing a popup late in Wednesday's game, though he was ultimately able to stay in and finish out the contest after being checked on by trainers. While manager Dave Roberts said he expects Seager to be fine, the team will play it safe and have him reevaluated to make sure he isn't dealing with anything more serious. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Bogaerts (ankle) will visit with a doctor Thursday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

The second game of Bogaerts' rehabilitation stint at Triple-A Pawtucket was rained out Wednesday, but manager Alex Cora said earlier in the week that playing a second rehab game was not a requirement for the shortstop to be activated off the disabled list. He could return to Boston's lineup for Friday's game against the Rays, pending Thursday's evaluation.

Baez went 2-for-4 in Wednesday's loss to the Indians to extend his hitting streak to eight games.

The Cubs mustered just five hits in a 4-1 loss, but Baez kept rolling along. During the eight-game hitting streak, the young infielder is 17-for-39. He's not just collecting singles, either, as the 25-year-old has six doubles, three home runs and a triple during the stretch. Sit back and enjoy the ride for as long as Baez keeps this up.

Lindor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Cubs.

The solo shot was one of three on the day for Cleveland, and gave the Indians a lead in the sixth inning that they wouldn't relinquish. It hasn't been a good opening month for Lindor, but he's now reached base safely in 11 straight games while mashing all three of his homers in that span. The .222/.300/.378 slash line remains unsightly, but it's hard to believe the 24-year-old won't start turning it around sooner rather than later.

Turner went 5-for-6 with a double, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 15-2 rout of the Giants.

He now has four multi-hit performances in his last eight games, pushing his slash line on the season up to .267/.362/.366. Turner's 10 steals in 10 attempts have been driving his fantasy value so far, but Wednesday's big performance could be a sign his bat is about to catch fire as well.

Wendle went 3-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Orioles.

Wendle has been a pleasant surprise in the early going, and he's now racked up three straight multi-hit performances amidst an 8-for-13 stretch. He's also notched double-digit steals in each of his last three seasons in the minors, so he's capable of providing some speed along the basepaths as well.
