Ahmed went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Ahmed took Dodgers starter Ross Stripling deep in the second inning to stake the Diamondbacks to an early three-run lead that they would eventually relinquish. It was a positive start to July after Ahmed struggled with a .216 average in June. Overall, he is slashing .258/.307/.424 with eight home runs and 27 runs batted in this season.

Crawford isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The Giants are set to face another left-hander in Matt Strahm, forcing Crawford to the bench for the second straight game. Donovan Solano will draw another start at shortstop and lead off.

Seager (hamstring) was spotted hitting in a simulated game Tuesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Seager continues to near a rehab assignment, and it's certainly possible he'll be sent to a minor-league affiliate if Tuesday's sim game goes as planned.

Edman is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

Matt Carpenter (back) was placed on the 10-day IL on Tuesday, and it will be Yairo Munoz, not Edman, who will get the start at third base and atop the order with lefty Wade LeBlanc set to serve as the primary pitcher for Seattle. Edman, a switch hitter, has done most of his damage against right-handed pitching so far, while Munoz is batting .283/.374/.453 for his career against lefties; it's possible the two operate in a platoon in Carpenter's absence. Edman has decent bat-to-ball skills and he runs pretty well, so even in a platoon role, he has appeal as a deep-league fill-in.

Gordon (quadriceps) is back in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Gordon left Saturday's game against Houston with a minor quadriceps injury and sat out Sunday's contest, but he's back in action after a brief rest. He'll bat ninth and play second base Tuesday.

Story (thumb) was activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's game against Houston.

As anticipated, Story will return after missing time with a sprained right thumb. He was able to complete a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque over the weekend and figures to be reinserted into the Rockies' starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup.

Mondesi (groin) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Mondesi missed just a bit longer than the minimum due to a groin strain. Now healthy, he'll be looking to bounce back from the poor stretch he had leading up to the injury, when he posted a .416 OPS in nine games. Humberto Arteaga was optioned to Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move.

The Rockies are expected to activate Story (thumb) from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's game against the Astros, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

Story started in rehab games with Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday and Sunday, playing five innings at shortstop in the first contest and seven innings in the second one. With Story reporting no setbacks with his sprained right thumb Monday, the All-Star should receive the green light to slot back into the Rockies' everyday lineup. Story's impending return will likely result in either Pat Valaika or Garrett Hampson getting optioned to Triple-A.

Mondesi (groin) appeared in a pair of rehab games for Double-A Northwest Arkansas over the weekend, going 2-for-9 with a double and a stolen base between the two contests.

After occupying the designated-hitter spot in his first rehab outing Saturday, Mondesi played all nine innings at shortstop a day later. Mondesi received Monday off, which could set the stage for an activation from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's contest against the Indians. Even if Kansas City determines Mondesi requires additional action in the minors before being reinstated, he at least remains on track to rejoin the big club before the All-Star break.

Baez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 18-5 loss to the Pirates.

It was an ugly game all around for the Cubs, but it was nice to see Baez jump back into action after sitting Sunday and hit his 21st home run of the season. The 26-year-old's career high in home runs for a season is the 34 he hit last year, and he figures to fly past that number in 2019 if he stays healthy.
