DeJong (side) will undergo an MRI on Thursday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The 27-year-old exited Wednesday's loss with left side tightness, and the issue is in a similar spot to where he was hit by a pitch Tuesday. The MRI is scheduled around 11 a.m., so DeJong is unlikely to be available for Thursday's early afternoon start with the results expected to come through during the game.

DeJong was removed from Wednesday's game at Milwaukee with left side tightness, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

The 27-year-old went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before exiting during the fifth inning Wednesday. The severity of the injury remains unclear, and DeJong should be considered day-to-day until his status is updated.

Story went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in a 5-3 loss to San Diego in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Story opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning and promptly added his fifth stolen base of the season. In the sixth, he reached on a single again and scored on a Ryan McMahon double. The 28-year-old shortstop is slashing .287/.361/.488 with four home runs, five stolen bases, 21 RBI and 22 runs scored through 36 games.

Mondesi (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Thursday.

The 25-year-old has been sidelined since the start of the season with a strained right oblique, but the rehab assignment indicates he's close to joining the Royals. It's unclear how many games Mondesi will require in the minors before being activated, but he could rejoin the team within the next week or two if all goes well.

Lindor went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-1 victory over the Orioles.

The shortstop now has at least one hit in each of his last six games, hitting 8-for-20 overall in that span with four RBI. The stolen base was just Lindor's second of the season, but he'll enjoy more frequent opportunities to swipe bags now that he's snapped out of his extended slump. The switch-hitter's average, now .202, remains underwhelming, however it has risen steadily in the past week and Lindor is beginning to look more like the player the Mets traded for and signed to a long-term deal.

Fletcher isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Fletcher will get a breather after he went 0-for-9 with two strikeouts in the last two games. Jose Rojas will start at second base while Phil Gosselin takes over at the hot corner.

Baez (back) will start at shortstop and bat cleanup Wednesday against Cleveland.

Baez was included in the Cubs' initial lineup for Tuesday's 3-2 loss, but the 28-year-old was ultimately scratched to receive more maintenance for his tight lower back. With an extra day of rest, Baez looks like he'll be good to go for the series finale. The fact that the Cubs are deploying him at shortstop rather than designated hitter seemingly implies some confidence in his health.

Diaz started at third base and went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Angels.

Diaz took over the hot corner for Alex Bregman, who was given the day off. His playing time dried up when a bunch of teammates returned to action after spending time in COVID-19 protocols. His start Tuesday was just the third in the last 10 games. For now, his value is tied to his versatility, as he's played all four infield positions and the two corner outfield slots.

Ahmed went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs scored Tuesday in an 11-3 win over Miami.

Ahmed put the Diamondbacks on the board in the second inning, launching a solo shot to left field for his first long ball of the campaign. He reached base twice more via walk in the contest and scored the team's second run in the fifth frame. After a sluggish start to the campaign, Ahmed has been trending up over his past 16 games, batting .308 over 52 at-bats.

Turner went 3-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Phillies.

The shortstop did his job as the leadoff hitter but got little help from the rest of the Nats' lineup. Turner has hit safely in eight of the last nine games, and he's slashing an impressive .323/.366/.548 with eight homers, seven steals, 15 RBI and 16 runs through 31 contests this season.
