Adames went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs scored Wednesday against the Mets.

Adames took Taijuan Walker yard in the sixth inning to record his 31st homer of the season. He's been very hot at the dish across his last 10 starts, maintaining a .457 average with five homers, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored. Adames is putting together a nice conclusion to his breakout season, as he has already established career-best marks in runs scored, RBI, home runs and stolen bases across 562 plate appearances.

Mateo stole a base and scored a run as a pinch runner in Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Tigers.

Mateo entered the game in the eighth inning after Terrin Vavra got aboard with a single. Prior to Wednesday, Mateo had hit .135 over his last 11 games without recording a steal in that span. He's up to 31 thefts in 39 tries this year while adding a .220/.267/.388 slash line, 13 home runs, 48 RBI, 57 runs scored, seven triples and 22 doubles through 135 contests. He's sat out two of the last five games amid his recent slump at the plate, but he's still likely to see most of the reps at shortstop.

Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's victory over the Angels.

After tallying an RBI with a fielder's choice in the second inning, Smith provided a big insurance run for the Rangers on Wednesday , as he hit a solo shot in the seventh to improve the lead to 4-2. The home run was his second of the season and first extra-base hit since July 29. He is slashing .205/.311/.261 through 205 plate appearances this season and will likely maintain a part-time role moving forward.

Tovar is expected to be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to play in Thursday's series finale against the Giants, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season with Double-A Hartford before he landed on the injured list with a groin injury in late June, and he was promoted to Albuquerque last week after he completed a rehab assignment. Tovar went 5-for-17 with a home run and two RBI in his first four games at Triple-A, and he posted a .314/.383/.542 slash line with 13 long balls, 47 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 66 contests at Double-A. He is Colorado's top prospect and should receive regular opportunities down the stretch in his first taste of the majors.

Arroyo hit just .227/.303/.381 with one homer and four steals over 28 games for Single-A Daytona after being dealt to the Reds at the trade deadline.

That's a far cry from the sparkling .316/.385/.514 line he put up for Modesto in the Mariners' organization. The California League is much more hitter-friendly than the Florida State League, but that doesn't fully account for the gap in Arroyo's production. He did show some flashes down the stretch, but overall, it seems like Arroyo -- who just turned 19 last month -- may have been pressing a little bit to impress his new organization. It'll be interesting to see whether the Reds decide to start him off back in Single-A next year or challenge him with a move to High-A.

Marte put up a .293/.397/.443 line with four homers and 10 steals over 30 games with High-A Dayton after being acquired from Seattle at the trade deadline.

It seems almost unfair that the Reds can have so many of the game's top shortstop prospects, with Marte and Edwin Arroyo having joined Elly De La Cruz and Matt McLain in the organization this summer. Arguably the jewel of the Luis Castillo deal, Marte was just as good with Dayton as he had been with Everett in the Mariners' organization before the trade. His final line for 2022: .279/.371/.458 with 19 homers, 23 steals and a 59:107 BB:K across 115 games. Marte will also get some extra reps in the Arizona Fall League, per RedsMinorLeagues.com.

Soto will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Soto will garner his fourth consecutive start and looks on track to serve as the Angels' everyday shortstop for as long as David Fletcher (hand) remains on the injured list. Through his first three starts, the 22-year-old rookie has gone 3-for-11 with a home run.

Story (heel) isn't starting Wednesday against the Reds, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Story is out of the lineup for a seventh consecutive game due to a heel issue, and it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to the field. Enrique Hernandez will take his place at second base and bat ninth.

Wendle isn't starting Wednesday against the Cubs since he's dealing with some bumps and bruises, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Wendle is on the bench for a third consecutive game, and he's apparently banged up. The exact nature of his injury isn't yet clear, and whether he's available off the bench remains to be seen. Charles Leblanc is starting at the keystone and batting third.

Mateo isn't starting Wednesday against the Tigers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mateo started the last three games and went 1-for-10 with a double, an RBI and two strikeouts. Gunnar Henderson will take over at shortstop and bat third.
