  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Homers in win

Swanson went 1-for-2 with a walk, a solo home run and two RBI on Wednesday against the Cubs.

Swanson took Jon Lester deep in the third inning to record his second homer of the season. He drove in his second run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. Coming off a disappointing 2018 campaign, Swanson has started quickly, reaching base in four of the first five games this season.

  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Hits second homer

DeJong went 1-for-5 but hit a solo homer in the seventh to begin the Cardinals' comeback in a 5-4 extra-inning victory against the Pirates on Wednesday.

The Cardinals spoiled the Pirates' home opener in the same fashion, coming back from a four-run deficit starting in the seventh Monday. DeJong hit just .222 in the first week of the year, but three of his six hits went for extra bases, and he smashed two homers. DeJong is looking to get back to the 20-home run plateau this year after he fell just short of that mark with 19 in his second season last year.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Rockies' Trevor Story: Swipes first bag of 2019

Story went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base during a 1-0 victory against the Rays on Wednesday. He was also caught stealing.

The Rockies' shortstop picked up his first steal but also his second caught stealing of the young season. Last season, he posted a career-high 27 steals and was caught only six times. Story is 5-for-25 (.200) with a homer, two RBI and the one stolen base in seven games to open 2019.

  • Braves' Johan Camargo: Making first start

Camargo will start in left field and bat sixth Wednesday against the Cubs.

Camargo serves as the Braves' utility man as he's capable of manning every infield position and sliding into the outfield as is the case Wednesday. He'll fill in for Ender Inciarte in left field with Jon Lester taking the hill for the Cubs. Camargo has five plate appearances so far this year, going 0-for-4 with a walk.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Nationals' Trea Turner: Move to IL official

The Nationals placed Turner (finger) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Infielder Adrian Sanchez was recalled from Triple-A Fresno in a corresponding move, but Wilmer Difo is expected to serve as the Nationals' everyday shortstop while Turner is out indefinitely with a broken right index finger. A firm timeline for Turner's return may not be established until he's re-evaluated by doctors, but general manager Mike Rizzo noted Wednesday that the fact that Turner suffered a clean break of the finger on his throwing hand may necessitate a longer recovery, per Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic. Rizzo suggested that Turner would likely need more time to heal than the three weeks teammate Matt Adams required after breaking a finger in 2018.

Nationals' Trea Turner: Suffers broken finger

Turner was diagnosed with a broken right index finger after Tuesday's loss to the Phillies, Buster Olney of ESPN reports.

Turner exited Tuesday's game after being struck by a pitch on a bunt attempt during the first inning. This is worst-case scenario for the Nationals as the 25-year-old is now likely headed to the injured list for a significant absence, though he has no official timetable for his return. Wilmer Difo will likely be called upon to fill in at shortstop in the short term.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Pops first homer

Arcia went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in an 4-3 win over the Reds on Tuesday.

Arcia's sixth-inning opposite field shot off Michael Lorenzen broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Brewers to a three-run lead. It was a welcome hit for Arcia, as he entered the game 0-for-14 on the season. He's still not expected to provide much power after connecting for just three homers in 348 at-bats in 2018.

Nationals' Trea Turner: Heading for X-rays

Turner will undergo X-rays on his finger after being struck by a pitch Tuesday against the Phillies, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Turner was hit on what appeared to be his right index finger on a bunt attempt during his first at-bat of the game and exited after a brief consultation with the athletic trainer. Wilmer Difo entered the game at shortstop in what is a concerning development for the Nationals.

Nationals' Trea Turner: Exits after HBP

Turner left Tuesday's game against the Phillies after being hit by a pitch on what appeared to be his right index finger, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.

Turner has been on fire at the plate to start the season as he is 5-for-13 with two home runs and four stolen bases through three games. The severity of the injury remains unclear.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Leading off versus lefty

Rojas will start at shortstop and man the leadoff spot in Monday's game against the Mets, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

With the Marlins facing a lefty pitcher (Steven Matz) for the second time in three games, Rojas will spell JT Riddle at shortstop and again get another turn atop the lineup. If Rojas ends up sticking consistently as the Marlins' leadoff man versus lefties, it would provide a minor boost to his outlook in DFS contests but probably wouldn't have as significant of an impact in season-long formats.
