Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA
Nationals' Ehire Adrianza: Begins running on treadmill
Adrianza (quadriceps) was cleared to begin running on an anti-gravity treadmill Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
The activity marks a small step forward for Adrianza, who has been on the shelf since suffering a left quad strain in a March 31 Grapefruit League game. The Nationals moved him to the 60-day injured list a couple weeks ago, so Adrianza will be on the shelf until at least early June while he recovers from the injury. A clearer target date for Adrianza's 2022 debut with the Nationals likely won't emerge until he advances to a minor-league rehab assignment.

Matt McLain SS | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: Power on full display
McLain has four home runs and nine RBI with three strikeouts and zero walks over his last three games for Double-A Chattanooga.
Unfairly labeled by some as a light-hitting shortstop coming out of college, McLain is proving to have all the tools through his first month at Double-A. The 22-year-old shortstop is hitting .278/.363/.696 with seven home runs, five steals on five attempts, a 9.9 BB% and a 26.4 K% in 91 plate appearances. The strikeout rate is a bit high, but the Reds certainly seem to have nailed their first-round pick in last year's draft.

Brandon Crawford SS | STL
Giants' Brandon Crawford: Homers in loss
Crawford went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers.
The Giants were unable to muster much offense against Los Angeles pitching Wednesday, as Crawford produced the team's only run with his second-inning solo shot off Tony Gonsolin. The long ball was his second of the campaign and first since April 15. Crawford hit a career-high 24 homers in 2021, but he's far behind that pace through 94 plate appearances this season.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Scores twice, drives in one
Swanson went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Mets.
Swanson played a significant role in Atlanta's seven-run sixth inning by driving in Adam Duvall with a single before also coming around to score later in the frame. He has now tallied at least one hit in eight of his last 10 games, during which he's also recorded one home run, five RBI and six runs scored. Swanson has improved his average to .233 across 101 plate appearances on the campaign, but his strikeout rate remains elevated at a concerning 35.6 percent.

Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Swats two homers
Berti went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs during Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.
The veteran utility man hit leadoff against lefty Madison Bumgarner on Wednesday and delivered his first two homers of the season during the first and seventh innings. Berti has a .314/.467/.600 slash line with four RBI, 10 runs and two stolen bases in 15 games, and his strong start should allow him to continue seeing at least semi-regular starts across the diamond.

Luke Williams SS | ATL
Giants' Luke Williams: Sent to Triple-A
Williams was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old has been with the big-league club for just over a week and will head back to Triple-A since Mike Yastrzemski (illness) is returning from the COVID-19 IL. Williams has appeared in eight games for the Giants this season and is 3-for-12 with a double, three RBI, a run and four strikeouts.

Diego Castillo 3B | MIN
Pirates' Diego Castillo: Not starting matinee
Castillo isn't starting the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Tigers.
Castillo will be out of the lineup for a second straight matchup after he went 3-for-13 with two RBI, a run, a walk and two strikeouts over the last five games. Jack Suwinski will start in right field and bat seventh.

Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Leading off against lefty Wednesday
Berti will start at third base and handle leadoff duties Wednesday with the Marlins opposing the Diamondbacks and southpaw starter Madison Bumgarner, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
For the fourth time in seven games, Berti will receive the leadoff assignment, as he's seemingly emerged as the Marlins' preferred table setter against left-handed pitching. Berti also picked up a start against a right-handed pitcher (Humberto Castellanos) in Tuesday's 5-4 loss, but that was a result of Miguel Rojas receiving a routine off day.

Joey Wendle 2B | ATL
Marlins' Joey Wendle: Misses series with sore hamstring
Wendle remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks due to hamstring soreness, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Manager Don Mattingly previously said Monday that Wendle was dealing with general soreness, but McPherson's report provides more clarity on the nature of the infielder's injury. The lefty-hitting Wendle will end up missing the entire three-game series against Arizona due to the hamstring issue, though there's a good chance he would have sat out Wednesday regardless of his health with southpaw Madison Bumgarner on the hill for the Diamondbacks. The Marlins are still viewing Wendle's sore hamstring as a minor concern that won't result in him going on the injured list, but he may need to make it back in the lineup at some point within the next two days for that to become a reality.

Nick Ahmed SS | TEX
Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Sits for day game
Ahmed is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.
The Diamondbacks and Marlins are wrapping up their series with a day game after a night game, so Ahmed will be extended a breather on getaway day. Geraldo Perdomo fills in at shortstop for Ahmed, who has followed up his five-hit, two-homer performance in St. Louis over the weekend by going 0-for-8 with four strikeouts in the first two games in Miami.
