  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Marlins' Joey Wendle: Takes seat Sunday

Wendle is not in the lineup Sunday against the Nationals.

Jon Berti will start at shortstop and bat ninth versus the Nats and right-hander Trevor Williams. Wendle went 0-for-2 in the Marlins' loss to Washington on Saturday and holds a weak .229/.264/.325 slash line across 268 total plate appearances this year.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Goes deep in loss

Bogaerts went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to Milwaukee on Saturday.

In another quiet performance by San Diego's offense, Bogaerts provided an early spark with his second-inning solo shot. The shortstop has been flashing more power of late, going deep three times in his past six games. However, he has only one other hit and no walks while batting just .174 over that span.

  • Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Collects fourth steal

Marte went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 8-7 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

Marte has seen regular playing time since he was called up a week ago. He's hitting a modest .227 (5-for-22) with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored, though he's also logged four steals. His speed was on display with 18 thefts over 89 contests in the minors this year prior to his promotion. Marte has mostly played at third base, moving Elly De La Cruz into a more permanent role at shortstop while Matt McLain handles second base.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Nabs 22nd steal

De La Cruz went 0-for-4 with two walks, two stolen bases and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-7 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

De La Cruz has done a lot of things since rising to the majors, but he hasn't shown a lot of patience at the plate with a 7.2 percent walk rate and 34.3 percent strikeout rate. The infielder's pair of walks Saturday accounted for just the fourth time he's drawn multiple walks in a game. He's still finding a fair amount of success with a .248/.304/.447 slash line, 22 steals, 11 home runs, 33 RBI and 52 runs scored over his first 69 contests.

  • Matt McLain SS | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Homer, steal in extra-innings win

McLain went 2-for-6 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 8-7 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

McLain got the Reds on the board in the sixth inning with his solo homer, and he tied the game by knocking in a run with a groundout in the ninth. He was again responsible for extending the game in the 10th, though it was because of a fielding error that allowed Arizona to keep a rally alive. He's knocked three homers and added six RBI over his last six games. For the season, the infielder is at a .294/.361/.512 slash line with 16 homers, 14 steals, 50 RBI, 65 runs scored, 23 doubles and four triples through 88 contests.

  • Jeter Downs SS | NYY

Nationals' Jeter Downs: Optioned to Triple-A

The Nationals optioned Downs to Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Downs was brought up from the minors Thursday to immediately fill Stone Garrett's (lower leg) roster spot, but he'll head back down in favor of Jacob Young, who was selected from Triple-A on Saturday. Downs hasn't performed well in the minors this season, and he figures to only return to Washington if the team needs an extra depth piece.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Hit streak goes to 11

Lindor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Angels.

He supplied the Mets' only offense by taking Patrick Sandoval deep in the third inning. Lindor also extended his hitting streak to 11 games in the process, a stretch in which he's slashing .386/.438/.614 with two homers, three steals, nine RBI and 11 runs. The shortstop is now creeping closer to his first 30-homer campaign since 2019 and first in a New York uniform -- he's six away, with 33 games left on the Mets' schedule.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Nabs two steals Friday

Perdomo went 1-for-3 with two walks, one RBI, two stolen bases and one run scored in Friday's 10-8 win over the Reds.

Perdomo had gone 4-for-15 (.267) over nine games since his last multi-hit effort, while his pair of steals Friday accounted for his first pilfers since Aug. 2. The shortstop is at a .270/.372/.402 slash line with 15 thefts, six home runs, 41 RBI, 55 runs scored, 19 doubles and three triples over 111 contests in a strong-side platoon role.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Belts 15th home run

Tovar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-4 loss against the Orioles.

Tovar's home run came with one out in the fifth and gave the Rockies a 4-2 lead. The homer was his 15th of the season to go along with 59 RBI, 64 runs scored and seven steals. Tovar does strike out over six times more than he walks (129:21) which has led to an on-base percentage that's currently hovering at .298. However, his .261 average is solid and he maintains a consistent role in the top two of the Rockies' batting order.

  • Giants' Johan Camargo: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Giants outrighted Camargo to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Camargo was designated for assignment Wednesday and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old infielder has slashed just .209/.267/.314 over his last 110 major-league games (331 plate appearances) dating back to the beginning of the 2020 season.
