  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Surging in September

Anderson went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, two stolen bases and a run scored in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Giants.

Anderson is showing why the White Sox invested six years in him prior to the season, having gone 13-for-25 with five extra-base hits and three stolen bases over the last six games. His average is up to .252, its highest point since May 29. There's still some work to do on his plate approach -- he doesn't walk much, strikes out a lot, and is susceptible to breaking stuff -- but as we close in on the end of the season, Anderson is on the verge of double-digit home runs and steals. That's a valuable fantasy asset at the middle-infield spot.

  • Indians' Francisco Lindor: Homers in second straight game

Lindor went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Orioles.

The 23-year-old has now homered in consecutive games and three times in his last four games, bringing his total to 29 on the year. One more and he will have doubled his total from 2016. Lindor has given something back in batting average this season, but he's done enough across the board to be a top-three shortstop in terms of earned fantasy value.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Starting Sunday

Bogaerts will start at shortstop in Sunday's series finale against the Rays, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Bogaerts had been given the day off Saturday while Eduardo Nunez started at short, but he was forced to enter the game when Nunez left with a knee injury.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Astros' Carlos Correa: Trying to get back to pre-injury state

Correa went a combined 1-for-8 over both ends of Saturday's doubleheader against the Athletics.

Correa is just 4-for-30 (.133) over the seven games since returning from a thumb injury. It's the type of injury that can affect a player's swing, so be patient as the young shortstop works through his timing and mechanics.

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Pelts homer Saturday

Anderson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and another run scored in a 13-1 win over the Giants on Saturday.

Anderson was one of six White Sox to clear the fences. He had gone 0-for-5 in his return Friday following a two-game absence due to illness. This was a nice turnaround performance, and he's now 11-for-29 with two homers to start September. Anderson's fantasy owners should continue riding the wave Sunday if he's in the lineup for the series finale.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Heads to bench Saturday

Bogaerts is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays, Tim Britton of The Providence Journal reports.

Bogaerts has struggled at the plate recently, going just 4-for-40 over his last 10 starts, so he'll get the day off to clear his head as Eduardo Nunez starts in his place at shortstop. With Bogaerts, Nunez, Rafael Devers, and Dustin Pedroia all vying for time around Boston's infield, manager John Farrell may choose to ride whoever is hot down the stretch.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Making fourth straight start

Bogaerts is in the lineup Friday, manning shortstop and batting sixth against the Rays.

This will be Bogaerts' fourth straight start. He rode the pine all of last weekend, with manager John Farrell acknowledging that the decision to sit Bogaerts was in part due to the 24-year-old's prolonged struggles at the dish (in addition to a couple minor injuries). Bogaerts has hit .198/.276/.299 since he was plunked on the hand by a pitch back on July 6, and he's just 2-for-13 since returning from his three-game breather.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Back in lineup Friday

Anderson (illness) is in Friday's lineup against the Giants.

Anderson missed the past two games while dealing with an illness, but is back at shortstop batting in the leadoff position for Friday's series finale. Since the beginning of September, Anderson has gone 8-for-19 (.421 average) with one home run and three RBI.

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Feeling better, gets extra day

Anderson (illness) was feeling better Thursday, but manager Rick Renteria decided to give the shortstop another day off, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Anderson was scratched from Wednesday's game and with very little to play for this season, Renteria opted to give his young shortstop a second day off as well. Anderson, who has multiple hits in three straight games, is hitting .247 entering Friday's game against the Giants.

  • Indians' Francisco Lindor: Comes up double short of cycle

Lindor went 3-for-6 with a triple, a solo home run and three runs scored Thursday against the White Sox.

Lindor led off a four-run first inning with a triple then opened the second with a solo homer. With 27 long balls this year, the star shortstop has equaled the total from his first two years combined. That power is far from all Lindor brings to the table, as he also has 12 steals and is in contention to win a second consecutive Platinum Glove as the best fielder in the AL.
