Mondesi (quadriceps) will bat eighth and play shortstop Monday against the Cubs, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

Mondesi left Sunday's game against the White Sox after fouling a pitch off his leg, but his removal was considered precautionary, so it's no big surprise to see him remain in the lineup Monday. Mondesi has started all 11 games this season despite going just .231/.231/.333 at the plate, though the rebuilding Royals have little reason not to let him work through his struggles on the field.

Fletcher went 1-for-5 with a walk, stolen base and run scored in Sunday's 11-inning loss to Houston.

Fletcher finished the three-game series against Houston with four hits and four walks in 15 plate appearances. That kind of production has been par for the course for Fletcher so far in 2020 -- he has hit safely in all but two contests and carries a .368/.458/.447 slash line through 10 games. He also has two stolen bases after swiping eight bags in 154 contests last season.

Bogaerts went 4-for-4 with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 9-7 loss to the Yankees.

Bogaerts opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the first inning. He scored again on a Christian Vazquez single in the third. Bogaerts then went yard again in the fifth with a solo shot versus Yankees reliever Michael King. The shortstop's big game gives him three homers, nine RBI and six runs scored in 10 games this season.

Mondesi was removed from Sunday's game against the White Sox after the fourth inning with a quadriceps contusion, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

According to Lewis, the Royals are labeling Mondesi's removal as precautionary after he fouled a pitch off his lower leg during his lone at-bat in the second inning. Mondesi ended up grounding out in the at-bat and went on to play the next two innings in the field, but the Royals decided to err on the side of caution by pulling him out of the contest early. Nicky Lopez (shin) came off the bench to replace Mondesi, who can be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener with the Cubs.

Correa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

According to Rome, manager Dusty Baker said that Correa is just getting a maintenance day after he started in each of the Astros' first eight games. Before going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Saturday's 5-4 loss, Correa had put together a seven-game hitting streak to begin the campaign. Jack Mayfield will enter the lineup in place of Correa, starting at shortstop and batting eighth.

Mondesi will start at shortstop and bat seventh Sunday against the White Sox.

Mondesi hit either second or third in the Royals' first five games of the season, but he's since shifted down in the lineup, as he'll bat sixth or lower in the order for the fourth time in five days Sunday. The change hasn't had much of a negative effect thus far for Mondesi, who has reached base in each of his past four starts while going 7-for-17 with three runs, two extra-base hits and a stolen base.

Velazquez will start at shortstop and bat eighth Sunday against the Rays.

He'll crack the starting nine for the third day in a row while top shortstop Jose Iglesias works through a quadriceps injury. The Orioles are labeling Iglesias as day-to-day for now, so Velazquez's run of regular starts could soon come to an end. The 26-year-old is still looking for his first hit of 2020 after having gone 0-for-8 with two strikeouts while appearing in five games to date.

Anderson was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right groin Saturday.

Anderson left Friday's game against the Royals with what was initially called right hip soreness, although the issue is evidently with his groin. He'll now miss at least 10 days, though the White Sox have yet to provide a concrete timetable for his return. Catcher Yermin Mercedes was recalled to take his place on the roster, but it will be Leury Garcia taking his place at shortstop Saturday against the Royals.

Fletcher went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, an RBI double and two walks in Friday's 9-6 loss to the Astros.

Fletcher's ability to get on base continued in full force Friday. He would score on Anthony Rendon's third-inning single as well as a homer and a triple from Brian Goodwin in the fourth and eighth innings, respectively. Through eight games, Fletcher is slashing .400/.486/.500 with five runs scored and four RBI.

Anderson exited Friday's contest against the Royals with right hip soreness.

Anderson had gone 2-for-3 with a double and one strikeout to begin Friday's contest, but he was removed in the seventh inning due to a hip issue. Whether the shortstop misses any additional time as a result remains to be seen.
