  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Five-game hitting streak

Pena went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Saturday against the Reds.

Pena extended his hitting streak to five games -- it was interrupted by an absence due to illness -- with a base knock in the second inning. He went on to steal second base, his seventh of the season. Despite hitting .268, Pena has had a power outage of late with only four extra-base hits -- no home runs -- across his last 15 games. He has only one RBI in that span.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Drives in four

Witt went 2-for-5 with a double and four RBI in Saturday's 10-9 win over the Angels.

Witt had a pair of two-run knocks, a double in the seventh inning and a single one frame later, to help the Royals erase a six-run deficit. This was his fifth multi-hit effort in his last 13 games, a span in which he's gone 17-for-51 (.333). The shortstop is still hitting just .247 on the year, but he's trending in the right direction. Witt has added ample counting stats with 11 home runs, 21 stolen bases, 35 RBI, 40 runs scored, 10 doubles and four triples through 69 games.

  • Rays' Wander Franco: Steals in consecutive games

Franco went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Saturday's 2-0 loss to the Padres.

Franco is just 2-for-4 on stolen base attempts over his last four games, but the mixed results haven't deterred him from running. The shortstop is now 24-for-31 on the basepaths this season, ranking third in the majors in steals. He's been held hitless five times in 14 games in June, batting .281 for the month and .295 with an .822 OPS over 69 contests overall. He's added eight home runs, 32 RBI and 41 runs scored.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Chance to return Sunday

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol told reporters that Anderson (shoulder) has a chance to return to the lineup for Sunday's contest versus the Mariners, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

"Tim, his shoulder got a little sore, I think he did it pregame out there stretching, throwing and he toughed it out for three innings," Grifol said. "It's cold out here. He toughed it out and the evaluations were good. He's day to day and we'll see how he wakes up tomorrow." Anderson exited the contest with shoulder soreness in the fourth inning, and while the White Sox will take the necessary precautions with the infielder, it does sound like he's avoided a serious injury.

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Exits with sore shoulder

Anderson left Saturday's game against the Mariners with right shoulder soreness.

Anderson went 0-for-1 with a walk before being replaced by Zach Remillard in the middle of the fourth inning. The former's day was already going poorly prior to the injury, as he was doubled off first base on a foulout when he didn't appear to realize the ball was in play. He's merely considered day-to-day for now.

  • Pablo Reyes RF | SD

Red Sox's Pablo Reyes: Out of lineup

Reyes will sit Saturday against the Yankees, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Reyes hits the bench after starting three straight games at shortstop. He's batting over .300 this season but hasn't done much else, as his .305/.333/.373 line is good for a subpar 90 wRC+. Enrique Hernandez returns to shortstop Saturday.

  • Kevin Smith DH | NYY

Athletics' Kevin Smith: Lands on injured list

Smith was placed on the 10-day injured list with a back strain Saturday.

Smith was scratched from the lineup Friday due to back issues, and he's evidently dealing with an injury serious enough to knock him out for at least 10 days. He'd only managed a .191/.216/.330 line in 102 trips to the plate prior to the injury, so his absence is unlikely to be a big blow to Oaklands' fortunes. Tyler Wade was called up to take his place on the roster, but it's Aledmys Diaz who gets the start at shortstop Saturday against the Phillies.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Blasts home run Friday

Baez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Friday's win over the Twins.

Baez tripled and drove in two Thursday night, then followed it up with another strong performance. The shortstop is riding a six-game hitting streak overall and now has his season OPS up to .614. That's still well below Baez's normal standard, but the recent stretch is at least a step in the right direction.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Collects eighth steal

Anderson went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners.

Anderson has struggled a bit at the plate in June, going 10-for-47 (.213) over 11 contests. He's posted just two extra-base hits, both doubles, along with two steals, one RBI and two runs scored for the month. The shortstop is slashing .251/.289/.295 with no home runs, 10 RBI, 21 runs scored, eight steals and nine doubles through 50 games, yet his struggles at the plate have yet to cost him the leadoff spot in the order.

  • Kevin Smith DH | NYY

Athletics' Kevin Smith: Dealing with back tightness

Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said Smith was experiencing back tightness ahead of Friday's game against the Phillies, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Smith's late removal from the lineup was labeled as a precaution, so it's unlikely he's facing an extended absence. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
