  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Activated from injured list

The Athletics reinstated Wilson (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

The 24-year-old shortstop has been on the shelf nearly two weeks due to right thumb inflammation, and it's a bit of a surprise he's returning so quickly given that it was recently reported by MLB.com that he hadn't been swinging a bat since landing on the IL. Wilson is apparently good to go, however, and should reclaim the starting job at shortstop now that he's healthy. Through 50 games this season, he has a .277/.310/.386 slash line with four home runs, two steals, 26 RBI and 23 runs in 214 plate appearances.

  • Jose Caballero SS | NYY

Yankees' Jose Caballero: Crushes two homers Monday

Caballero went 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI during the Yankees' 5-1 win over the Rays on Monday.

Monday's game was scoreless until Caballero smacked a three-run homer off Griffin Jax in the fifth inning, and the former followed that up with a solo shot in the eighth that gave the Yankees a 4-1 lead. It was Cabellero's first multi-homer game since Aug. 19, 2025 against Tampa Bay, and the 29-year-old infielder is up to 10 long balls on the season. He is slashing .249/.304/.407 with 20 steals and 33 RBI across 277 plate appearances this season.

  • Kaeden Kent SS | NYY

Yankees' Kaeden Kent: Lands on MiLB IL

Kent was placed on the 7-day injured list Monday due to an undisclosed injury, Conor Foley of YES Network reports.

Kent has been seeing the ball well at High-A Hudson Valley, hitting .307 with six home runs, 43 RBI, 20 stolen bases and 56 runs scored over 76 games this season. However, he'll head to the shelf for at least the next week while on the mend from an unknown injury.

  • Royals' Tyler Tolbert: Career-high five hits Monday

Tolbert went 5-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI double during the Royals' 15-1 win over the Phillies on Monday.

The bats were hot for the Royals on Monday, with seven of the nine starters logging at least two hits and five players -- including Tolbert -- driving in at least two runs. However, the 28-year-old Tolbert stood out from his teammates with a career-high five hits -- including his first home run of the season -- while falling a triple shy from the cycle. Thanks to Monday's performance, he is now slashing .333/.383/.429 with nine steals, three RBI, two extra-base hits and 13 runs scored across 48 plate appearances.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Kicking off rehab Tuesday

Pena (calf) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Pena is less than a week removed from landing on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain, but he's made enough progress to test himself in a game setting. The expectation is that Pena will play a couple rehab contests before being activated from the IL on Friday when first eligible.

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Heading to bench Monday

Volpe is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.

Volpe had started in four of the Yankees' previous five games but went just 3-for-17 with a walk during that stretch. Jose Caballero will cover Volpe's usual spot at shortstop in the series opener.

  • Astros' Braden Shewmake: Activated, will start Monday

The Astros reinstated Shewmake (adductor) from the 10-day injured list Monday, and he'll start at shortstop and bat eighth in the team's series opener in Washington, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Shewmake is back with Houston after a right adductor strain kept him on the shelf for just over a month. The 28-year-old completed a four-game rehab assignment between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Triple-A Sugar Land over the past week, going 3-for-11 with two doubles, three walks and one stolen base. Shewmake could temporarily supplant Nick Allen as the Astros' preferred option at shortstop, though both will be relegated to bench roles when Jeremy Pena (calf) likely makes his return from the IL later this week.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Taking part in full activities

The Red Sox announced June 28 that Story (sports hernia) is taking part in full baseball activities, MLB.com reports.

Story hasn't yet been cleared to do every activity at 100 percent intensity, so until he reaches that benchmark in his recovery from sports hernia surgery, he won't be ready to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 33-year-old shortstop previously said that he expected to miss around eight weeks after undergoing surgery May 21, so he may have a shot at returning from the 60-day injured list at some point shortly after the All-Star break.

  • Michael Arroyo SS | SEA

Mariners' Michael Arroyo: Promoted to Triple-A

The Mariners promoted Arroyo from Double-A Arkansas to Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, Daniel Kremer of MLB.com reports.

Arroyo earned a promotion to the Mariners' top minor-league affiliate after slashing .287/.364/.456 with 10 home runs and 13 stolen bases across 65 games at Arkansas. The 21-year-old has split time between second base and left field this season, two positions that are occupied by Cole Young and Randy Arozarena, respectively, in the majors. Arroyo is now one step away from his debut, but it might take an injury for him to be summoned to the big leagues in 2026.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Not hitting since landing on shelf

Wilson (thumb) hasn't resumed hitting since landing on the injured list June 29 and isn't expected to be available to play until after the All-Star break, MLB.com reports.

The Athletics likely won't have a good feel for a target date for Wilson's return until he's able to resume full baseball activities, but the 24-year-old appears to be shut down from activity for now while he waits for the swelling in his right thumb to subside. Since Wilson was placed on the IL, Alika Williams and Joshua Kuroda-Grauer have been sharing time at shortstop.
