Pennington is not in the lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

Pennington has become the preferred option at second base, starting five of the previous six games, but his struggles at the plate this season (.227 average) could loosen his grip on a regular role. Gregorio Petit will get the call at the keystone Thursday and bat ninth.

Lindor is out of the lineup Wednesday against the A's, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports.

Lindor almost never sits out, but the Indians will use Wednesday's day game as an opportunity to give their star shortstop a breather. Michael Martinez will get a rare start at shortstop and hit ninth Wednesday.

Correa (illness) is in the lineup Wednesday against Houston, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Correa exited Tuesday's game due to illness, going 0-for-3 at the plate prior to departing. The ailment apparently isn't anything serious, as Correa will start at his usual shortstop spot and bat cleanup against Pittsburgh's Gerrit Cole.

Anderson tripled, scored twice and knocked in two runs in a 2-for-4 game Tuesday against the Phillies.

Anderson has started 15 straight games for the White Sox and has been fantastic, with a .339/.387/.615 line and eight extra-base hits in that span. He still has struck out 17 times in just 56 at-bats, however, and Anderson is going to struggle to say this hot if he can't make more consistent contact.

Correa left Tuesday's game with an illness, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Manager A.J. Hinch suggested he pulled Correa to be sure the 21-year-old is well rested for Wednesday's 12:35 pm Eastern start. Correa went 0-for-3 with a strikeout prior to exiting the game.

Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Rays.

Bogaerts had come down to earth this month, but now has six hits in his last four games. The shortstop has just one home run and four RBI this month, but already has a career-high 15 homers and could eclipse his previous best of 81 RBI as well. Bogaerts should re-find his stroke and finish the season strong for the Red Sox.

Mateo, 21, is hitting .390 with two steals over his last 10 games for High-A Tampa.

Mateo now has 31 steals in 103 games and looks to be back on track after a suspension earlier this summer. He is hitting .270 on the year, but does strike out a bit too much, fanning 99 times over those 103 contests. The Yankees did acquire shortstop Gleyber Torres at the trade deadline, but Torres is a tad behind Mateo in terms of development and Torres is currently playing second base alongside Mateo in Tampa.

Bogaerts went 2-for-5 with a run in Friday night's 10-2 win over the Tigers.

This was Bogaerts' fifth straight game with a hit (though he's just 6-for-22 in that span) since he was given a rest day last Sunday. Despite the mini hitting streak, Bogaerts has hit the skids since the calendar flipped to August, hitting just .197 with no extra-base hits and just two RBI in the last 16 games. His season batting average, once as high as .357 in the middle of June, is down to .311. While the slump is concerning at the moment, Bogaerts should emerge from it.

Mondesi took Justin Verlander deep in the third inning Tuesday for his first major league home run.

Mondesi has been struggling, hitting only .213/.238/.311 so far in the majors. The home run shows his potential power, however, which made him one of the Royals' top-ranked prospects coming into this season.

Sardinas was traded to the Padres on Monday in exchange for a player to be named later, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Sardinas was DFA'd by Seattle last week after hitting just .181 in 72 major league at-bats. The 23-year-old, who hit .252 at Triple-A, will provide depth at shortstop for San Diego and could see some playing time as a potential stopgap at the position in 2017.
