It's certainly positive news that Bogaerts was scratched from the lineup due to an illness and not a reemergence of the hand injury that plagued him last week. The star shortstop should be considered day-to-day.

Bogaerts missed a couple of games last week with a sprained hand, but the reason for his removal from Monday's lineup has not been announced. Deven Marrero will take over at shortstop.

Anderson was not in the starting lineup for a second consecutive day Sunday, as manager Rick Renteria wanted to give the struggling young shortstop a "little mental break," Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Renteria sat down with Anderson at length prior to Sunday's game and said the shortstop is "in as good a place as he can be right now." Anderson is currently mired in a 12-for-61 (.197) skid that has dropped his average to .243. It sounds like the young shortstop will be back in the lineup Monday, when the White Sox tangle with the crosstown-rival Cubs.

Pennington is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox.

Pennington had logged the previous three starts at second base, but that was only because the opposition rolled out left-handed starters in each of those contests. With righty Rick Porcello on the mound for Boston in the series finale, Pennington will give way to Nick Franklin, who is expected to see the bulk of the starts at the keystone on the strong side of a platoon.

Anderson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Royals, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The White Sox aren't about to call it quits on Anderson in an everyday role while the team careens toward another losing season, but the young shortstop will hit the bench for a second straight game, perhaps as a result of his poor start to July (.226/.241/.358 batting line). The multi-game benching could be what Anderson needs to clear his head and adjust his approach at the dish, but fantasy owners waiting for the 23-year-old to break out should temper expectations. The .319 average he supplied in May looks to be an extreme outlier, as he's been under the .230 mark in every other month this season.

Lindor went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Saturday's win over Toronto.

Not only was Lindor's bomb a game-clinching blast, it also ended a 24-game home-run drought. The shortstop is turning in another solid fantasy campaign with a .257/.318/.462 slash line, 15 homers, 46 RBI and 52 runs. However, with just four stolen bases this year, it doesn't appear that Lindor will come close to matching last season's 19 swipes.

Pennington started at second base and went 2-for-3 with a double in Friday's loss to Boston.

With back-to-back southpaws on the mound, Pennington has seen two consecutive starts and produced two separate two-hit performances. The Angels are facing David Price - another lefty - Saturday, which likely places the 33-year-old into the lineup for a third consecutive game. While he is on the short side of a platoon at second base with Nick Franklin, Pennington could force himself into a larger role if he can outplay his competition at second base.

Anderson is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Royals.

The 24-year-old hasn't gotten a day off since June, so he'll give way to Tyler Saladino at shortstop Saturday. Anderson is hitting just .226 over his last 53 at-bats and has seen his OPS dip to .631 over the past couple weeks, so the routine day off could be a good chance to clear his head as well.

Mondesi (back) is expected to return to the lineup early next week for Triple-A Omaha, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports

The Royals have taken it slow with Mondesi, who hasn't played since July 9, in part because this ailment is something the 22-year-old has dealt with before. After a disappointing, and short, MLB stint to open the year, Mondesi has been destroying Triple-A pitching with a .316 average and .892 OPS.

Bogaerts went 1-for-4 with a double in Thursday's 8-6 loss to the Blue Jays.

Bogaerts had missed the previous two games with a hand injury suffered when he was hit by a pitch July 6. He had gone 4-for-26 over seven games after getting plunked, so manager John Farrell gave him a two-game breather. Bogaerts was dropped to sixth in the batting order Thursday as part of a lineup adjustment the manager initiated to jolt the Red Sox out of a recent offensive funk.
