  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Reaches 20-homer mark

Neto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Athletics.

Neto is up to 20 homers on the year after his fifth-inning blast Friday. He's surged to that mark with five long balls over his last 11 games, a span in which he's batting .250 (11-for-44) with 11 RBI. The shortstop continues to work well out of the leadoff spot, and he's at a .269/.326/.482 slash line with 52 RBI, 73 runs scored, 21 stolen bases, 25 doubles and one triple across 103 games. He's three homers shy of matching his mark from last season.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Heating up in August

Baez went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Friday's 7-0 win over the Twins.

Baez has now tallied at least one hit in nine of his first 13 games in August. The All-Star utility player had a miserable .426 OPS through 61 at-bats in July, but he's starting to heat up again so far this month. Across his last 43 at-bats, Baez is hitting .326 with five extra-base hits, eight RBI, five runs scored and one stolen base as he looks to work his way up Detroit's batting order.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Under the weather Friday

Manager Joe Espada said Pena, who is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Baltimore, is feeling under the weather and is getting some tests done, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

It's more than just a night off for Pena, who looks to be battling some sort of sickness. He should be considered day-to-day until more information is presented. Mauricio Dubon is playing shortstop Friday.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Receiving Friday off

Pena is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Pena is receiving more regular days off since returning from his hamstring injury at the start of August, with Friday being his third rest day. The 27-year-old is batting .289 (13-for-45) with two doubles, a triple, two homers and two steals in 11 games since being reinstated from the injured list.

  • Jacob Amaya SS | CHW

White Sox's Jacob Amaya: DFA'd by Chicago

The White Sox designated Amaya for assignment Friday.

The White Sox needed to make room for Chase Meidroth (thumb) returning from the 10-day injured list. Amaya appeared in 36 games for Chicago this season and slashed a paltry .106/.139/.121 with one double, eight RBI, seven runs scored, two stolen bases and a 3:16 BB:K across 73 trips to the plate.

  • Chase Meidroth SS | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Activated from 10-day IL

The White Sox activated Meidroth (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Meidroth missed the minimum amount of time on the injured list with his bruised thumb. In a corresponding move, the White Sox designated Jacob Amaya for assignment. Meidroth is slashing .252/.330/.319 with three home runs, 15 RBI, 36 runs scored, 11 stolen bases and a 33:47 BB:K across 349 plate appearances as a rookie this season.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Contributes multiple ways in win

Arias went 0-for-1 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 9-4 win over Miami.

Arias contributed in various ways to Cleveland's win. He delivered one run on a groundout and drove in the game-winning tally on a sacrifice fly. The shortstop was later hit by a pitch, stole second base and scored the team's final run. Arias has maintained a tenuous grip on the starting shortstop job since returning from an ankle injury in late July, going 15-for-59 (.254) with three home runs, 14 RBI, two steals and six runs scored over 17 contests.

  • Yankees' Andrew Velazquez: Signs MiLB deal with Yanks

The Yankees signed Velazquez to a minor-league contract Thursday.

New York just released Velazquez from his minors deal earlier this month, but he's returning to the organization and will rejoin Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He slashed .244/.315/.342 with four home runs, 32 RBI, 42 runs scored, 23 stolen bases and a 27:74 BB:K across 311 plate appearances with the affiliate prior to his release.

  • Conrad Cason SS | BOS

Red Sox's Conrad Cason: Undergoes Tommy John surgery

Cason underwent Tommy John surgery this week, Andrew Parker of Beyond the Monster reports.

Cason pitched in just one game in the rookie-level Florida Complex League back in May and had been sidelined ever since due to arm fatigue. The 19-year-old now faces a lengthy rehab that will likely keep him off the mound until the 2027 campaign. Cason was an eighth-round pick in the 2024 Draft and is a two-way prospect at shortstop and pitcher.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Cleared for rehab assignment

Wilson (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Wilson was cleared for full baseball activities earlier this week and is now ready to test things out in a game setting. The rookie shortstop has been shelved since late July with a fractured left forearm. Because Wilson has only been sidelined for a few weeks, his rehab assignment should be brief.
