Gibson did not factor into the decision in Thursday's loss to the Rays, allowing two runs on eight hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Both runs charged to Gibson came across in the opening frame after he surrendered back-to-back hits to open the contest, followed by a two-run single from Dylan Carlson with two outs. The right-hander was able to keep the Rays off the board over the next five innings however, generating 11 whiffs while posting at least six strikeouts for the third time in his last four starts. Gibson is still looking for his first win since July 7, though he has managed to go six or more innings in three of his five outings over that span.

Kremer (4-9) took the loss against Toronto on Thursday, allowing five runs on four hits and five walks while striking out six batters over 4.1 innings.

Kremer fell behind 3-0 after one frame and never moved out of position to take the loss after that, as the bulk of Baltimore's runs came in a ninth-inning rally that fell just short. Poor control was partly to blame for Kremer's struggles, as he walked a season-high five batters, two of whom came around to score. Kremer has lost each of his past four decisions and has posted a 5.66 ERA along with a 17:11 K:BB across 20.2 frames during that span.

Gausman (10-8) earned the win over Baltimore on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two batters over eight innings.

The only runs against Gausman came on Colton Cowser's two-run homer in the third inning. The veteran hurler yielded only one hit outside of that frame and retired the final eight batters he faced. Gausman notched his fourth quality start over six outings since the beginning of July, and he's gone 4-1 with a 3.70 ERA across 41.1 frames during that span. Despite that solid stretch, Gausman continues to underwhelm in the strikeout department -- he has just 30 punchouts over the aforementioned 41.1-inning span and is on track to average fewer than a strikeout per inning for the first time since 2018.

Cortes (5-10) took the loss against the Angels on Thursday, allowing six runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out two batters over 4.2 innings.

Cortes gave up a modest two runs through four frames but then fell apart in the fifth. In that inning, Los Angeles got to him for three hits and a walk, and all four of those baserunners eventually came around to score (though two crossed the plate following his departure). Of the nine total hits Cortes allowed, four -- three doubles and a homer -- went for extra bases. The left-hander has struggled of late, yielding 24 earned runs over his past 23.1 frames.

Anderson (9-10) earned the win over the Yankees on Thursday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over six innings.

Anderson surrendered a solo homer to Jazz Chisholm in the second inning but otherwise had little trouble with New York's lineup. The left-handed hurler notched his third quality start over his past eight contests and brought his ERA back down to a sub-3.00 mark at 2.99. One of Anderson's flaws in fantasy over the course of his career has been his low strikeout numbers, but he's seen an uptick in that category of late, as Thursday marked the fourth time over his past six outings that he's recorded at least seven punchouts. In fact, he has racked up a healthy 42 strikeouts across his past 37.2 frames.

Tyler allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 4.1 innings in a no-decision against Cincinnati on Thursday.

Tyler struggled from the outset, giving up two runs in the first inning. He was better after that, yielding just one additional run, though he exited after 84 pitches with one out in the fourth having allowed two of the first three batters in that frame to reach base. It was the fourth straight outing in which Tyler has failed to complete five frames -- in fact, he's reached the five-inning mark just once over his first seven starts. The right-hander has posted a poor 5.40 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 25:18 K:BB across 31.2 innings in the majors this season.

Greene allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Miami on Thursday.

All of the Marlins' scoring against Greene came in the fourth inning, when the hurler gave up three runs on three hits. That frame marked the end of a 24-inning scoreless streak for the right-hander, but he still finished with his sixth consecutive quality start. This was the first time in that span that Greene has given up more than one run -- he came into Thursday with a minuscule 0.27 ERA and 0.58 WHIP over his previous 33 frames. Greene has now pitched 136.1 innings on the campaign, surpassing his previous professional high of 132.2 that he established between Triple-A and the majors in 2022. There's no reason to suspect him of wearing down, however, given his recent run of dominance.

German is set to have his contract selected from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

German will join the major-league roster after compiling a 5.29 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 66 strikeouts over 68 innings in 13 starts with Indianapolis this season. The right-hander had an opt-out in his contract for Friday, so the Pirates opted to add him to the big-league roster. It's unclear if German will draw a start or not, but more information will likely be provided when the move is made official.

Gomber (3-8) was saddled with the loss Thursday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk over three innings. He struck out one.

Gomber allowed five extra-base hits in the first inning, with a two-run blast by Pete Alonso representing the biggest blow of the four runs given up. A second dinger by Alonso to lead off the third was the final blow against Gomber, who was removed following the third frame. Thursday's outing marked the first time in 10 home starts this season that Gomber has allowed as many as five earned runs. While his next start is slated to take place away from Coors Field, Gomber's task won't be any easier as he's slated to face the red-hot Diamondbacks next week in Phoenix.

Peterson (6-1) earned the win Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over five innings against the Rockies. He struck out five.

Peterson was provided a four-run lead prior to taking the hill and saw the lead grow as high as seven as he cruised to his sixth win. A Brenton Doyle sacrifice fly was the only run tallied against the Denver-born Peterson, who has now allowed two runs or fewer in eight of his last nine starts. While his WHIP is still a bit unsightly at 1.42, he's successfully limited the damage to the tune of a 3.34 ERA over 12 starts spanning 64.2 innings. He's next slated to toe the rubber when Oakland makes the cross-country trip to take on the Mets in Queens.
