Berrios (13-9) allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits over 7.2 innings Monday, striking out six and earning a win over the Red Sox.

Berrios gave up just one unearned run through seven frames before Jarren Duran belted a two-run homer in the eighth inning. It was Berrios' fourth straight win and his longest start of the season. During this four-game stretch, he's produced a 1.88 ERA with a 26:4 K:BB through 28.2 frames. However, in the 10 starts prior to this win streak, he posted a 6.02 ERA. For the year, Berrios owns a 3.72 ERA across 27 starts. His next outing is projected to be in Minnesota this weekend.

Marsh was returned to Triple-A Omaha after serving as the 27th man for Monday's doubleheader against Cleveland. He didn't factor into the decision, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out two across 4.2 innings.

As expected, Marsh will be sent back to the minors after making a spot start in Game 2 of Monday's twin bill. He struggled to begin the outing, surrendering three runs (two earned) in the first inning, but he managed to settle down and keep his club in the game, allowing the Royals to ultimately walk away with a 9-4 victory. The 26-year-old owns a 4.67 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 95 strikeouts over 106 innings so far this season (21 appearances).

Cortes (8-10) got the win Monday, giving up four hits over 6.2 innings in a 5-2 victory over the Nationals. He struck out five and walked two batters.

Cortes stayed hot on the mound by picking up his third straight win Monday. After a stretch of games in which Cortes gave up 24 runs in five starts, he's bounced back by allowing just one run in his last three starts combined. The 29-year-old has seen his ERA come back down to 3.89 through 27 starts this season. He's scheduled to pitch again on Sunday against the Cardinals.

The Phillies recalled Mercado from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

He'll take over the roster spot vacated by Jose Alvarado, who has been placed on the restricted list as he deals with a personal matter. Mercado was moved to the bullpen at Lehigh Valley after being demoted around the All-Star break and has collected a 2.92 ERA and 12:8 K:BB over 12.1 frames covering his last 10 appearances.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Monday that Matz (back) will have his pitch count scaled back to 65 in Tuesday's rehab start with Triple-A Memphis, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

That's after he threw 85 pitches in his last outing with Memphis. The idea behind reducing Matz's workload is to keep him flexible for a variety of roles when he rejoins the Cardinals, as it sounds like he could be used as a starter or a reliever or both. Tuesday's rehab appearance is expected to be the final one before Matz is activated from the 60-day injured list. He's been out since late April due to a herniated disc in his back.

The Tigers selected Madden's contract from Triple-A Toledo, and he will start in Monday's series finale against the White Sox.

Madden will make his major-league debut Monday as he provides the Tigers some relief for their starting rotation, which has been decimated by injuries. Madden was promoted to Toledo in late April, and in his 18 starts in Triple-A this season he's posted a 3-5 record with a 7.97 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 102:40 K:BB over 79 innings. If he is able to fare well in his MLB debut, he could stick around with the big club and earn another start down the road.

Lynn (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Sunday, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Lynn threw approximately 75 pitches in a live practice session Monday and is slated for 80-to-85 pitches in his first rehab start. He should be stretched out enough for a return to the big leagues after that, though it's not a guarantee that he'll rejoin the St. Louis rotation at that time. Lynn has been out since late July with right knee inflammation.

Wicks (oblique) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Wicks struck out four over 4.2 scoreless innings Sunday with Triple-A Iowa, throwing 73 pitches. However, he will be asked to get a bit more stretched out before likely rejoining the Cubs' rotation next week, likely on Sept. 4 against the Pirates. Wicks has been sidelined since mid-June with a Grade 2 right oblique strain.

Gil (back) threw a bullpen session Sunday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that the team is still determining whether Gil's next time on the mound will be a live batting practice session or a rehab start. The right-hander will be eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list on Sept. 6 and Boone added that it's possible Gil is ready by that date. The hurler is recovering from a lower-back strain.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said that Ragans (calf/hamstring) is "fine" after exiting Monday's start versus the Guardians due to cramping, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Ragans was pulled after walking the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the fifth inning due to cramping in his left calf and hamstring. However, he had already thrown 94 pitches by that point, with Quatraro noting that the lefty was likely going to be lifted soon, anyway. He'll need to get through a normal between-starts throwing session first, but Ragans sounds like he's on track to make his next scheduled start Saturday in Houston.
