Sugano gave up two hits and a walk over two scoreless innings during his Grapefruit League debut against the Pirates on Wednesday.

The Orioles anticipated Sugano throwing 35-to-40 pitches during his first spring outing, but the 35-year-old righty was able to get through his scheduled two innings on just 28 pitches -- 17 of which were strikes. He said after the game that he was primarily focused on getting used to pitching in a new environment and communicating with his catcher, and he'll look to work more on pitch sequencing during his next start, per Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com. Sugano is expected to open the year in Baltimore's starting rotation after turning in a 1.67 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 156.2 innings in Japan last season.

Eovaldi allowed one run on three hits while striking out three over three innings in Wednesday's spring start against the Guardians.

Eovaldi threw an efficient 31 pitches and came away pleased with the effort after an uneven first Cactus League start. "I felt much better this time around than the last outing," Eovaldi told Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News. "I felt like my command was a lot better and I liked the shapes of my pitches." Eovaldi felt like he rushed pitches during his first outing.

Williams struck out three over two scoreless innings in Wednesday's spring start against the Rangers.

Williams faced the minimum six batters and never fell behind any hitter more than 1-0. He threw 26 strikes among his 34 offerings and consistently hit 96 and 97 mph with his four-seamer. The right-hander missed the first half of 2024 due to elbow discomfort and told Steve Stockmar of MLB.com that he's been doing physical therapy three times per week with exercises designed to strengthen the elbow.

Abbott (shoulder) threw a side bullpen session Wednesday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Abbott, who was already on a slower progression due to the shoulder, had added downtime due to an illness that kept him away from the team last weekend. It's unclear when he'll advance to facing hitters in a live batting practice session.

Lodolo allowed one run on one hit and three walks while striking out two over 1.2 innings in Wednesday's spring start against the Angels.

Lodolo looked out of sync as several pitches tailed high and outside, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. The lefty's pitch count reached 26 after he issued his third walk, and manager Terry Francona opted to pull him mid-inning and have him come back an inning later. Lodolo was much better in his second frame, retiring the side in order on nine pitches.

Montgomery (finger) threw 26 pitches in a bullpen session Tuesday and plans to throw another one Friday, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.

If Montgomery comes out of Friday's session without issue, the next step will be facing live hitters on the backfields before entering a game setting.

Burnes allowed three hits and struck out three over two scoreless innings in Wednesday's spring game against Milwaukee.

Burnes made his second Cactus League appearance and pushed his pitch count to 29 (20 strikes). He told Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports that other than a couple of breaking balls he left over the plate, he was pleased. The right-hander has struck out six over three innings thus far.

Espino (shoulder) extended his throwing distance to 120 feet Wednesday.

Espino still has a long way to go in his rehab after undergoing two shoulder procedures in the past 21 months. He hasn't yet been completely ruled out for 2025, but he won't have the chance to make any appearances until late in the year.

Meyer topped out at 97.7 mph while completing a scoreless inning Wednesday against the Mets in his Grapefruit League debut, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Meyer issued a two-out walk in the frame but needed only 13 pitches to get out of things unscathed. The right-hander's four-seamer averaged 96.4 mph in the outing, which is up more than two mph from what he averaged with the pitch last season. Meyer attributed the velocity increase to "a big offseason in the weight room," Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. He had an up-and-down 2024 season which featured a 5.68 ERA and ended prematurely due to a shoulder issue, and Meyer is essentially still a prospect as he competes for a spot in the Marlins' rotation for 2025.

White Sox manager Will Venable said Wednesday that Thorpe (elbow) "continues to progress," Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Thorpe has not yet been cleared to throw breaking balls during his bullpen sessions, however, and will need to show he can do that before facing hitters and pitching in a Cactus League game. The right-hander had surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow last September and experienced a pair of setbacks after that during the offseason. Thorpe is not expected to be ready for Opening Day.
