Bieber (2-2) took the loss against the Nationals on Tuesday, allowing four runs on one hit and six walks over two-thirds of an inning.

Bieber failed to get out of the first inning, marking the shortest start of his career. The 31-year-old also allowed six walks, which is a new career high. On the season, the right-hander holds a 5.74 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 22:18 K:BB in 31.1 innings. With Bieber being a potential trade candidate before Monday's trade deadline, his career-worst start may diminish his overall value to potential trade suitors.

Melton (6-1) picked up the win in Tuesday's 14-0 rout of the Orioles, scattering three hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out five.

The O's couldn't even get a runner into scoring position against Melton, while the Tigers' offense put at least one run on the board in every single inning. The 25-year-old right-hander has allowed two runs or fewer in seven straight starts dating back to June 20, delivering a dazzling 1.09 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 46:15 K:BB over 41.1 innings during that dominant stretch. Melton will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is set to come on the road early next week in Seattle.

Kremer (1-4) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up eight runs on eight hits and three walks over four innings as the Orioles were routed 14-0 by the Tigers. He struck out four.

Detroit scored in every inning, so Kremer was hardly the only Baltimore pitcher to struggle on the night, but the right-hander took the brunt of the damage. Half the hits off him went for extra bases, including homers by Eduardo Valencia in the second inning and Gleyber Torres in the fourth, and Kremer got the hook after 81 pitches (45 strikes). He's been tagged for 14 runs in 10 innings over his last two starts, inflating his ERA on the season to 6.50, and with Chris Bassitt (back) on the same schedule as Kremer during his rehab stint, his time in the big-league rotation could be running short. Kremer's set to get at least one more start while Bassitt gets stretched out, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Angels.

Burns didn't factor into the decision in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Guardians, allowing five runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four.

The matinee got off to a disastrous start for Burns and the Reds, as an Edwin Arroyo error helped prolong the first inning and eventually set up a grand slam by Kyle Manzardo. The right-hander kept his cool and shut Cleveland down for the next three frames, exiting after 89 pitches (58 strikes) with the score tied 5-5. Burns still hasn't been saddled with a loss since April 10, and over nine starts since the beginning of June he's gone 5-0 with a 2.98 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 56:21 K:BB over 48.1 innings. He'll look to stay sharp in his next outing, which is currently scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Pirates.

Williams (10-6) took the loss in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Reds, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out 12.

The right-hander has struck out double-digit batters in four straight outings, with Tuesday's dozen establishing a new season high, but Williams' offense gave him no help in a 2-0 loss. During that dominant four-start stretch, Williams has delivered a stunning 45:2 K:BB over 27 innings with a 3.00 ERA and 0.63 WHIP, but he somehow has just a 1-2 record to show for it.

Cecconi didn't factor into the decision in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Reds, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out two.

The Guardians staked Cecconi to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the right-hander fell apart in the fourth, allowing back-to-back doubles to Nathaniel Lowe and Tyler Stephenson to lead off the frame before getting the hook after 84 pitches (52 strikes). Cecconi has failed to complete five innings in three straight outings, stumbling to a 7.50 ERA during that stretch while serving up three long balls in 12 innings. He'll try to rally in his next start, which is currently lined up to come at home this weekend against the Diamondbacks.

Jax (6-8) took the loss in Tuesday's matchup against the Rangers, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out in 10 in 5.2 innings.

Jax tied his season high in strikeouts with 10 while taking the loss Tuesday despite allowing just one earned run. On the season, the 31-year-old now owns a 3.74 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 92:30 K:BB through 86.2 innings. The right-hander is slated to make his next start against the White Sox on Sunday.

McDonald is scheduled to undergo UCL reconstruction surgery in early August, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

McDonald was diagnosed with a sprained UCL in his right elbow Friday, and after seeking out a second opinion, he will opt to go under the knife to address the issue. The procedure will end his season early and likely rule him out for most, if not all, of 2027 as well. He'll close the book on 2026 after logging a 5.12 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 70.1 innings across 14 starts.

Bassitt (back) tossed 3.1 innings, allowing one run on one hit and a walk while striking out three batters in Tuesday's rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Bassitt surrendered a solo home run to Franklin Arias (No. 1 prospect for Red Sox) on the first pitch of the game, but he quickly settled in, retiring 10 of the next 11 batters. The right-hander registered 28 strikes over his 46 total pitches, and he'll likely build up past 60-plus pitches in his next outing with Norfolk. Bassitt has been on the injured list since June 8 while recovering from lower-back discomfort, which ultimately required surgery. He's eligible to be activated from the 60-day IL on Aug. 4, though he'll likely return to the major-league roster in mid-to-late August.

Glasnow (back) will face live hitters again Wednesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Glasnow will take on live batters for the second time in a week after having done so already Friday. The right-hander has been on the shelf since May 8 due to lower back spasms, but he finally appears to be moving closer to a return. If all goes well Wednesday, Glasnow would be on track to begin a minor-league rehab assignment thereafter. Prior to landing on the injured list, the 32-year-old had compiled a 2.72 ERA and 0.83 WHIP with 49 punchouts over 39.2 innings in seven starts.
