Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Takes no-no through nine, loses in 10th
Hill (9-5) suffered a heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Pirates on Wednesday, striking out 10 while pitching a no-hitter through nine innings before giving up a leadoff homer to Josh Harrison in the bottom of the 10th.
It's extraordinarily rare to see a starting pitcher take the mound for the 10th inning, and even rarer to see him do so in the midst of a no-hitter -- which would have been a perfect game if not for an error by Logan Forsythe in the ninth. Unfortunately for Hill, the Dodgers' high-octane offense went quiet in this one, and Harrison finally broke through with his walkoff shot on the veteran lefty's 99th pitch of the night. It has to be a massive disappointment for Hill, but fantasy owners won't find much cause to complain about this outing. He'll look to get back in the win column Tuesday in Arizona.

Antonio Senzatela RP | MIL
Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Denied 11th win by blown save
Senzatela allowed two runs on nine hits with one walk and two strikeouts over five innings in Wednesday's no-decision against the Royals.
Senzatela was able to stay away from hard contact, surrendering eight singles and a double. He was in position for his 11th win heading into the ninth inning, but a blown save from closer Greg Holland denied the rookie that accomplishment. Assuming he sticks in the rotation, Senzatela's next start will come Monday against the Tigers.

Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Undergoes season-ending surgery
Matz underwent season-ending surgery to reposition a compressed nerve in his left elbow on Wednesday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
While this is an unfortunate way for Matz's season to end, he's expected to be ready for the start of spring training. The 26-year-old ended his 2017 campaign with a disappointing 6.08 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 48:19 K:BB in 66.2 innings, though some of his struggles can likely be attributed to the elbow ailment. A healthy Matz will look to bounce back in 2018.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: BP pushed back
Syndergaard (lat) won't throw batting practice for a couple days, David Lennon of Newsday reports.
Syndergaard was originally supposed to face hitters in BP on Wednesday, but manager Terry Collins said the team decided to wait a couple more days "to err on the side of caution." He hasn't faced live hitters since landing on the disabled list back at the end of April, and considering the Mets are out of contention, they'll likely continue to proceed cautiously with their ace.

Yu Darvish SP | SD
Dodgers' Yu Darvish: Still on track for Sunday start
Darvish (back) threw a bullpen session Wednesday and is still in line to start Sunday against the Brewers, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
It was originally reported that he would throw his bullpen session Thursday, but it was a day earlier than anticipated. There may be further news released regarding how the session went, but everything looks to be on track for his activation this weekend.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Throws 47 pitches in rehab start
Cueto (forearm) allowed three hits over three scoreless innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday. He struck out one batter.
His rehab stint was delayed slightly by an illness, but Cueto got back on the mound Tuesday and successfully built up to 47 pitches. The expectation was that Cueto would need just two rehab appearances, and if the Giants stick to that plan, Cueto could return Sept. 1 against St. Louis. He suffered a flexor strain in late July while attempting to work his way back from blister issues.

Max Fried SP | NYY
Braves' Max Fried: Headed down Wednesday
Fried will be sent down to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
It sounds like the Braves want Fried to make a few more starts on the farm before the minor-league season concludes to build his innings count up. Fried threw 103 innings last season in his first year back from Tommy John surgery, and he's at 93.1 frames between the minors and majors this season. While his prospect stock has taken a bit of a hit this year, Fried has pedigree as a first-round pick and he's still just 23. Fried figures to get a look in the rotation in spring training.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Takes loss Tuesday despite quality start
Gray (5-3) fell to the Royals on Tuesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk over 6.2 innings while striking out six.
The right-hander delivered his fourth quality start in his last five trips to the mound, but other than Nolan Arenado, the Rockies hitters couldn't solve Danny Duffy, saddling Gray with his first loss in August. He's now got a 3.53 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB in his last seven outings (43.1 innings), making him a solid fantasy option heading into Sunday's road start in Atlanta.
