Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Tosses seven strong innings, picks up win
Nola (10-9) tossed seven one-run innings to earn the win Monday against the Braves, allowing five hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
Nola was terrific in this one, throwing 70 percent of his pitches for strikes while inducing 10 groundball outs. He allowed a run on two hits in the sixth inning, but only three men reached base during the rest of his time on the mound. This quality start came at the right time for Nola, who had allowed 12 runs across 11.1 innings en route to losses in his past two starts. He owns a tidy 3.46 ERA to go along with a 1.18 WHIP going into Saturday's start against the Marlins.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: To throw bullpen to determine status
Cueto will throw a bullpen Wednesday, after which the Giants will decide whether to insert him back into the rotation, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Cueto got hammered in his last rehab start, as he served up eight runs (five earned) on nine hits over three innings against High-A Stockton. He believes he is ready to return, but that poor outing has the Giants doubting him. If Cueto's arm doesn't look right Wednesday, the Giants could choose to shut him down for the rest of the season.

Vance Worley SP | NYM
Marlins' Vance Worley: Confirmed for Tuesday's start
Worley will start Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
There was some speculation regarding whether Worley would remain in the starting rotation after getting pounded for eight runs over four innings his last time out, but the Marlins will ultimately hand him the ball for another start. In six starts (30.1 innings) since rejoining Miami's rotation at the end of July, Worley has compiled an unremarkable 5.04 ERA and 14:11 K:BB. Things won't get any easier for the 29-year-old, as he faces a Washington team that's scored the second-most runs in the majors this season.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Expected to return Friday
Manager Dave Roberts said Kershaw (back) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list to start Friday's game against the Padres, Clay Fowler of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Kershaw looked sharp through five innings during his only rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City -- allowing one run while striking out eight -- and the Dodgers' ace said everything checked out the day after, so his next start will be with the big club. "Everything felt healthy and good to go, so I'm excited for the next one," Kershaw said after the outing. He was able to run his pitch count up to 71 in his rehab start, so he likely won't face any restrictions in his first MLB outing since landing on the disabled list July 23. The Dodgers are in cruise control in their division race, so with Kershaw back, they're expected to operate a six-man rotation down the stretch.

Tyler Anderson SP | LAA
Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Makes rehab start with Triple-A club
Anderson (knee) made a rehab start with Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, pitching one inning and allowing four runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out two batters in the outing.
Taking the hill for the first time since June 25 after a two-month recovery from arthroscopic knee surgery, Anderson was unsurprisingly rusty. The lefty needed 33 pitches just to get through the lone inning, but on a positive note, he didn't seem to experience any issues with his knee. Anderson is expected to make at least one or two more appearances in the minors before returning from the 60-day disabled list. Once he's back with the Rockies, Anderson looks bound for a bullpen role, assuming the team's rotation remains healthy.

Zach Eflin SP | BAL
Phillies' Zach Eflin: Hopes to return in September
Eflin (shoulder) said he is hopeful he can return sometime in September, Matt Gelb of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Eflin is sidelined with soreness in his throwing shoulder. He has not thrown a ball since Aug. 18 and will need to progress to a throwing program before a clearer return date emerges.

Adam Wainwright SP | STL
Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Could soon resume throwing program
Wainwright (elbow) had a doctor's appointment scheduled for Sunday, during which he was expected to get further information on when he'd be cleared to begin a throwing program, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
Wainwright has been on the disabled list since Aug. 18 and was restricted from throwing for 10 to 14 days following a platelet-rich plasma injection the following day. While he's yet to reach that time window, the veteran was hoping to gain a more definitive date on when he'd be cleared to take the next step. The results of Sunday's appointment weren't immediately available, but further clarity on his status should be available in the early portion of the week.

Seth Lugo SP | KC
Mets' Seth Lugo: Takes no-decision Sunday
Lugo gave up two earned runs on four hits through 3.2 innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday. Washington eventually prevailed 5-4.
Lugo fared fairly well against the high-powered Nats in his first start back from a shoulder injury, tossing 51 of 70 pitches for strikes. The sophomore's record remains at 5-3 to go with a 57:20 K:BB in 72.1 innings this year, and he's next scheduled to toe the rubber Saturday in Houston -- though that could change given the flooding crisis there.

Yu Darvish SP | SD
Dodgers' Yu Darvish: Defeated by Brewers
Darvish (8-10) allowed three runs -- all earned -- on six hits in five innings of a 3-2 loss to the visiting Brewers on Sunday.
He also struck out seven but walked three in what was his fourth start with the Dodgers. After back-to-back 10-strikeout road victories to start his Los Angeles career, Darvish has underwhelmed at home against the White Sox and Brewers, so he'll need to wait a few turns in the rotation before he gets another shot at his first victory at Chavez Ravine. The Japan native will next take the hill Saturday in San Diego.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Blanks Giants in victory
Corbin (12-11) tossed seven shutout innings in an 11-0 win over the Giants on Sunday. He gave up five hits, issued one walk and struck out eight.
Corbin has been on some kind of roll lately, rattling off victories in four straight starts and going 6-2 in his last eight. He's piled up 52 strikeouts to go with just 13 walks (four came in one game) during that span and has put up a goose egg in the earned-run column thrice in his last four starts. Corbin may have his work cut out for him in his next start at Coors Field on Saturday, but he's still worth a look if he's available on your wire.
