  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Will have start skipped

Freeland (shoulder) will have his start against the Padres on Saturday skipped, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Freeland exited his last start after being hit by a liner, and while he's apparently healthy enough to make his next start, his recent struggles prompted the Rockies to give the ball to Tyler Anderson instead. He owns a respectable 4.03 ERA in 27 starts this season, but the 24-year-old has faltered in three September outings, allowing 10 runs (eight earned) with a 9:9 K:BB through 10.1 innings. It's unclear if he'll rejoin the rotation after Saturday, though even if he doesn't, Freeland could still see some starts down the stretch should an opportunity arise.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Will be dropped from rotation this week

Fried isn't listed among the Braves' probable starters for their three-game weekend series with the Mets, suggesting he may have been dropped from the rotation, MLB.com reports.

After being recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sept. 1, Fried was immediately inserted into the rotation as part of a six-man setup, making two starts with the big club. Though he performed respectably in the two outings, the Braves may be aiming to limit Fried's workload as the season winds down since he's already accumulated 108 innings across three levels, which represents his largest workload in any campaign since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August of 2014. It's unclear if the Braves will replace Fried in the rotation next week or simply go with five starters from here on out.

  • Vance Worley SP | NYM

Marlins' Vance Worley: Getting spot start Thursday

Worley will start Thursday's game against the Phillies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Miami decided to push Jose Urena's start back by a day, so Worley will step in for the last minute spot start. Worley has struggled to a 6.35 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 11 starts this season, so it would be unwise to expect much from him Thursday. He also hasn't pitched more than 32 pitches since transitioning to the bullpen at the end of August, so he'll likely be on a pitch limit.

  • Jose Urena SP | LAA

Marlins' Jose Urena: Starting Friday now

Urena is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Brewers, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

He was originally scheduled to start Thursday against the Phillies, but Vance Worley will get the ball in his place. Miami will now start Urena, Adam Conley and Dillon Peters in that order in their weekend series against the Brewers.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Set for spot start Saturday

Anderson will start Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

He'll take the rotation spot of Kyle Freeland (collarbone), who has struggled in a trio of September starts. He compiled a 6.21 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 12 starts for the Rockies earlier in the season, so he isn't a lock to stick in the rotation past Saturday. Anderson has made just one appearance for the big club since injuring himself June 25, tossing four scoreless innings of relief Monday, so he's expected to be limited to around 70 pitches in his return to the rotation.

  • Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Logs bullpen Thursday

Wainwright (elbow) threw a bullpen session Thursday and estimated he hit 90 mph, David Solomon of 550 KTRS radio reports. He's next scheduled for a bullpen session Saturday or Sunday.

The right-hander seems to be on track for a return, perhaps within the next week. Wainwright may only be limited to one or two starts the rest of the way, however, and his eroding skills make him an uninviting mixed-league starter anyway. Of course, desperate streamer times could call for the measure of adding him for a dart at a win and some strikeouts.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Pirates' Tyler Glasnow: Lasts just 2.2 frames in return to majors

Glasnow (2-7) allowed five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three batters through just 2.2 innings Wednesday, taking the loss to Milwaukee.

After finding his form through 15 starts with Triple-A Indianapolis (1.93 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 13.5 K/9), it was discouraging to see Glasnow struggle in his return to the majors. The 24-year-old righty now sports a disastrous 6.25 FIP through 13 starts with Pittsburgh this season. Despite his tremendous upside and potential to provide a fantasy boost over the final weeks of the season, Glasnow can't be started with confidence in most settings. He lines up to face the Brewers at home in his next start.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Collects 10th win

Anderson (10-3) allowed two runs -- one earned -- on seven hits and a walk while striking out two batters through 5.1 innings during Wednesday's win over Pittsburgh.

Considering Anderson was pitching on just three days rest, this was another excellent outing from the righty. He now boasts an impressive 2.84 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 27:12 K/BB over six starts since returning from the disabled list. It's also worth noting that he hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his past 13 outings. Anderson projects to make his next start against the Pirates at PNC Park.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Lined up for bullpen session

Syndergaard (lat) played catch for the second straight day Wednesday at Wrigley Field and is set to throw a bullpen session for his next work, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.

This is a promising sign for Thor, who recently experienced a soreness-related setback but could still theoretically return later in September. There's no guarantee he returns at all, and if he does, it would likely be for a minimal workload.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Fans seven in Wednesday's win

Corbin (14-12) picked up the win against the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing only one run on four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings while striking out seven.

It was a strong return to form for Corbin after he got pummeled by the Padres his last time out. The left-hander now has a 3.16 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 73:22 K:BB in 74 second-half innings over 12 starts, and he'll get a shot at some revenge against the Friars in his next trip to the mound Monday in San Diego.
