Gerrit Cole SP | NYY
Pirates' Gerrit Cole: Picks up win despite allowing five runs
Cole (12-11) earned the win over the Cardinals on Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five over 5.2 innings.
Tommy Pham was a thorn in Cole's side, driving in three of the five runs against the right-hander on a pair of run-scoring hits, including a homer. However, Lance Lynn was blown up on the other side, and that allowed Cole to get into the win column for the first time since Aug. 26. Cole has improved his strikeout and walk rates this season -- his xFIP is lower than his mark from a year ago -- but the home runs have spiked. He will look to finish strong against the Nationals next week.

Julio Teheran SP | BAL
Braves' Julio Teheran: Continues strong late-season run
Teheran allowed two runs -- only one earned -- on seven hits and a walk while striking out five batters over seven innings in a no-decision against the Phillies on Saturday.
Teheran entered with a 2.25 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 over his previous five outings, and Saturday's solid showing only improved those marks. The 26-year-old righty has clearly hit his stride down the stretch when it matters most, so he's probably worth considering in his final start against Miami at Marlins Park.

Henderson Alvarez SP | WAS
Phillies' Henderson Alvarez: Fires five scoreless innings Saturday
Alvarez pitched five scoreless innings with two strikeouts during Saturday's loss to Atlanta. He didn't factor into the decision.
This was just the second start of the season for Alvarez, so pitching five scoreless innings checks out as a rock-solid outing. However, he's now struck out just six batters through 10 innings, so his fantasy upside is extremely capped heading into his final outing of the year against the Mets at Citi Field.

Lance Lynn SP | STL
Cardinals' Lance Lynn: Rocked for eight earned runs
Lynn (11-8) took the loss Saturday, giving up eight runs on six hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning against the Pirates. He struck out one batter.
This was a disaster, as Lynn only managed two outs on 42 pitches (25 strikes). His season ERA has jumped more than half a run -- from 2.94 to 3.47 -- over his last three starts, and he has just three more strikeouts (16) than walks (13) in five September outings. Fatigue may be a factor, with Lynn now past 180 innings in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. He lines up to face the Cubs at home next week in his final start of the regular season.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Departs after struck by line drive Saturday
Ryu left Saturday's game in the third inning after being hit in the left hand by a line drive, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
The southpaw was hit by a Joe Panik comebacker and was replaced by Ross Stripling. Expect more news toward the end of this game or in the postgame press conferences.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Another quality outing in defeat
Hendricks allowed one earned run over six innings in Saturday's loss to the Brewers. He gave up eight hits, posted a 6:1 K:BB, and did not factor into the decision.
Hendricks has allowed one earned run or fewer in seven of his last 12 starts, but the Cubs' offense could not do enough damage to get him a win Saturday. Hendricks is set to make one more start before the regular season concludes, next Thursday against the Cardinals.

Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Mets' Zack Wheeler: Transferred to 60-day DL
Wheeler (arm) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Saturday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
Saturday's transaction was procedural only, as Wheeler had previously been ruled out for the year. However, the Mets needed to make the move in order to open a spot on the 40-man roster for fellow pitcher Noah Syndergaard. While Wheeler's 2017 campaign was cut short, he should be back to 100 percent in advance of spring training next year.
-
Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Confirmed as Saturday's starter
Syndergaard (lat) has been confirmed as the starting pitcher for Saturday's game again the Nationals.
Syndergaard is scheduled to throw only one inning Saturday, but he will be taking the mound for the Mets for the first time in nearly five months. As long as all goes well, he could make one more appearance before the regular season concludes. Fantasy owners did not get what they hoped out of Syndergaard in 2017, but barring any setbacks the rest of way, his return to the mound should erase any concern heading into the offseason.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Fans nine in Friday's win
Hill (11-8) earned the win over the Giants on Friday, allowing only one run on five hits and a walk over six innings while striking out nine.
The lefty is putting together a strong September, posting a 2.45 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 30:6 K:BB in 22 innings over four starts. Hill will close out his regular season Wednesday at home against the Padres before heading into the playoffs as a key part of the Dodgers rotation.

Jordan Lyles RP | KC
Padres' Jordan Lyles: Fans seven in Friday's loss
Lyles (1-4) took the loss against the Rockies on Friday, giving up four runs on five hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over six innings while striking out seven.
While it was a better performance from Lyles than his last outing Sept. 16 against his former team, when Colorado tagged him for seven runs in four innings at Coors Field, the end result was the same. The journeyman righty and his 7.23 ERA will make one more start this season for the Padres in San Francisco on Friday.
