  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Cubs' Jose Quintana: Twirls complete-game shutout

Quintana (11-11) kept the Brewers off the scoreboard Sunday in a masterful complete-game effort, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out 10 en route to the victory.

This is exactly why the Cubs traded for Quintana back in July. Things haven't been perfect since the lefty joined the Cubs, but he's been stellar this month -- following Sunday's gem, he holds a 1.63 ERA and a 31:4 K:BB in four September starts. With the division largely locked up, he seems to be in line for one more start during the regular season, which should come Friday against the Reds.

  • Rockies' German Marquez: Grabs win Sunday

Marquez (11-7) earned the victory Sunday, allowing two earned runs on five hits across five innings to the Padres. He also struck out three and walked three the 8-4 win.

It's the first win since Aug. 18 for Marquez, who went 0-2 with four no-decisions during that span. The 22-year-old now owns a 145:48 K:BB to go with a 4.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in his first full big-league campaign. Marquez is scheduled to make one more start Saturday against the visiting Dodgers before potentially turning his focus to the playoffs, should the Rockies hang on to the second wild-card spot.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Takes no-decision Sunday

Corbin allowed two runs on five hits while walking four and striking out five over 6.2 innings Sunday against the Marlins. He didn't record a decision in the 3-2 victory.

Interestingly enough, Sunday snapped a 12-game streak of decisions for Corbin, who went 8-4 with a 3.41 ERA during that span. He's projected to make one more start in the regular season Saturday in Kansas City before he and the Diamondbacks set their sights on the playoffs.

  • Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Fans six through five in win

Taillon (8-7) allowed a single run on four hits and a walk while striking out six batters through five innings to take the win against St. Louis on Sunday.

Sunday's win was Taillon's first since Aug. 11, and he's now allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his past five starts. There have been a number of peaks and valleys throughout the season for the 25-year-old righty, but it's encouraging to see him finishing the year strong. Taillon takes a 4.62 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 8.5 K/9 into his final projected start of the season against Washington at Nationals Stadium.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Strikes out 11 in tough-luck loss Sunday

DeGrom (15-10) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with no walks across six innings while taking the loss Sunday against the Nationals. He struck out 11.

DeGrom allowed a two-run home run to Trea Turner in the third inning and was saddled with an unearned run following a single and an error in the fifth. That tally was enough to sink the right-hander to his 10th loss despite what was a strong overall performance. DeGrom has been one of the only bright spots for the Mets this season and continues to throw well down the stretch, with a 28:5 K:BB and a 2.37 ERA over his last three starts. His final turn in the rotation for 2017 will come Friday against the Phillies.

  • Deck McGuire SP | TOR

Reds' Deck McGuire: To enter rotation Tuesday

McGuire will make his first major-league start Tuesday against the Brewers, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Rookie Davis was originally scheduled to take the mound Tuesday against the Brewers, but he has been shut down for the season with a hip impingement. His injury now opens up an avenue for McGuire to join the starting rotation over the final days of the regular season. The 28-year-old has tossed 5.2 innings of scoreless relief for the Reds in September and held a solid 2.79 ERA over 168 innings with Double-A Pensacola prior to his contract selection earlier this month. He'll face a tough matchup at hitter-friendly Miller Park on Tuesday, so he can comfortably be left off the fantasy radar.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Lit up for seven runs Saturday

Walker (9-9) allowed seven runs -- three earned -- on six hits and three walks while striking out six batters in just 3.2 innings to take the loss against Miami on Saturday.

After allowing just four runs and striking out 27 batters in 28.2 innings over a five-game stretch, Walker has now surrendered 11 runs in his past two starts. Walker sports a solid 3.54 ERA, and 1.35 WHIP for the campaign, but start-to-start inconsistency is clearly still a hindrance to his fantasy value. A road game against the Royals projects to be Walker's final start of the regular season.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Throws five pitches in return

Syndergaard pitched a scoreless first inning with just a single hit allowed before exiting Saturday's loss to Washington. He didn't factor into the decision.

Syndergaard's last start was on April 30, so after missing nearly five months, the hard-throwing righty was handled cautiously by the Mets. Barring any setbacks, he projects to make another appearance before the end of the season. It's probably not worth owning Syndergaard outside of keeper/dynasty settings at this stage of the game.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Mediocre in no-decision

Strasburg allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out six batters over five innings in Saturday's win over the Mets. He didn't factor into the decision.

This wasn't Strasburg's best outing, and it also snapped a four-game winning streak. Still, he's having one of the best seasons of his career and takes a 2.68 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 10.5 K/9 into his final projected start against Pittsburgh at Nationals Park. However, with a playoff berth secured and little on the line for Washington, there is always a chance Strasburg is skipped or the Nationals' rotation is rearranged.

  • Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Forearm contusion shortens Saturday effort

Ryu (5-8) suffered a left forearm contusion while being struck with a batted ball Saturday and was charged with the loss against the Giants. X-rays came back negative on his injury, though, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

The southpaw finished his outing after 2.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and striking out one. Ryu's immediate future remains in doubt, especially since the Dodgers have depth to replace him in the rotation as they look to play out the regular season.
