  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Likely starting Wednesday

Strasburg (illness) is expected to start Game 4 of the NLDS against the Cubs on Wednesday, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

According to agent Scott Boras, Strasburg will take the mound Wednesday if he's feeling well enough to pitch, which the Nationals will determine within the next couple hours. This news marks a considerable turn since Tuesday night, as it was determined that Tanner Roark would be the starter for Game 4 while Strasburg recovered from an illness. Although he didn't get his usual prep work in, Strasburg will likely be the man on the mound for Washington on Wednesday, as he looks to extend the club's season for a Game 5 on Thursday.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Lined up for potential Game 5

Strasburg (illness) will pitch Game 5 of the NLDS against the Cubs if necessary, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

It was thought that Strasburg would step in to pitch the Nationals' must-win Game 4 following Tuesday's postponement, but he's apparently a little under the weather and didn't get his usual prep work in, so manager Dusty Baker is sticking with his originally planned rotation. Tanner Roark will start Wednesday, and if the Nationals are able to win and stay alive, Strasburg will get the ball for the decisive Game 5.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Could start Game 4 on Wednesday

Strasburg will likely start Game 4 of the NLDS against the Cubs on Wednesday after Tuesday's game was postponed due to rain, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Tanner Roark was scheduled to start Tuesday before the rainout, and while the Nationals haven't announced their pitching plans for Wednesday's rescheduled contest, Strasburg is expected to step in to start seeing as he'll be on normal rest. Strasburg earned an unlucky loss in Game 1 of the NLDS against Chicago on Friday after allowing two unearned runs on just three hits and a walk while striking out 10 batters in seven innings.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SD

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Blasted in Game 2 start

Ray was the pitcher of record in the Diamondbacks' 8-5 loss to the Dodgers on Saturday in Game 2 of the series. He lasted 4.1 innings and was charged with four runs on four hits, four walks and three wild pitches while striking out six batters.

After tossing 2.1 innings in relief in the Diamondbacks' wild-card win over the Rockies on Oct. 4, Ray was called upon to start on three days' rest, and his fatigue showed. The four runs the lefty allowed were his second most in any of his last 10 appearances, with his inability to consistently throw strikes proving to be his downfall. With the Diamondbacks now in a 2-0 series hole, it's possible that Ray won't see the mound again in 2017 if the Dodgers are able to sweep Arizona in Game 3 on Monday.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Likely Game 4 starter

Corbin is the likely choice to start Game 4 for the Diamondbacks in the NLDS, but it's not official, and he may be available out of the bullpen for Game 2 on Saturday, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.

Arizona will look to even the series Saturday, so it may require Corbin to come in if Robbie Ray can't eat enough innings. Expect the D-backs to reveal a finalized rotation after Game 2.

  • Vance Worley SP | NYM

Marlins' Vance Worley: Cast off 40-man roster

Worley was outrighted from the 40-man roster Saturday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Worley accumulated a 6.91 ERA and 1.80 WHIP over the course of 71.2 innings with the Marlins this season. He split time between the bullpen and the rotation, but was never able to settle into a clearly defined role with the big-league club.

  • Daniel Corcino SP | LAD

Dodgers' Daniel Corcino: Re-signs with Dodgers

Corcino agreed to a minor-league contract with the Dodgers.

Starting out in High-A Rancho Cucamonga after joining the Dodgers' organization in May following his release by the Cubs, Corcino worked his way up to Double-A Tulsa by the end of the season. The 27-year-old had one brief stint in the majors back in 2014 with the Reds, although it appears unlikely that he will make his way back at this rate. He will mainly provide organizational depth for the Dodgers.

  • Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Omitted from NLDS roster

Ryu was left off of the Dodgers' NLDS roster, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

The Dodgers selected Alex Wood as their NLDS Game 4 starter and ultimately decided to withhold Ryu from the 25-man roster after he reportedly stated that he wasn't comfortable pitching out of the bullpen. If the Dodgers reach the NLCS, Ryu would have an outside chance at being added to the roster prior to that series.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Selected as NLDS Game 4 starter

Wood will start Game 4 of the NLDS against the Diamondbacks, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Barring a sweep of the Diamondbacks, Wood -- who posted a 2.72 ERA during the regular season -- will take the mound Tuesday in Arizona for a pivotal Game 4. The 26-year-old faced the Diamondbacks four times this season (three starts and one relief appearance), allowing six runs over 21 innings (2.57 ERA).

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Named starter for NLDS Game 1

Manager Torey Lovullo reported Thursday that Walker will start Game 1 of the NLDS against the Dodgers on Friday.

With Zack Greinke starting the team's wild-card contest Wednesday and Robbie Ray pitching in relief, the Diamondbacks will call upon Walker to open up the best-of-five series against their divisional foes. The 25-year-old posted a solid 3.49 ERA over 28 starts during the regular season. More importantly, he allowed only six runs over 16.2 innings (3.24 ERA) in his three starts against the Dodgers.
