  • Jordan Lyles RP | KC

Padres' Jordan Lyles: Will be activated Sunday

Lyles (forearm) will be activated prior to Sunday's contest against the Diamondbacks, MLB.com's AJ Cassavell reports.

Lyles was roughed up in his second rehab start Tuesday, but Luis Perdomo's (shoulder) injury accelerated the Padres' need for another arm. The club didn't provide the exact role Lyles will serve upon activation, but there is a good chance he claims the vacated fifth starter spot in the rotation. The 27-year-old posted a 4.46 ERA (4.79 ERA as a starter) and 3.1 K/BB ratio as a swingman prior to his injury, so he wouldn't be more than a streaming option in deeper formats if he is deployed as a starter.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Allows one earned run

Senzatela (4-3) allowed one earned run on five hits and four walks while striking out six across 5.2 innings to earn the win against the Athletics on Saturday.

Senzatela got off to a shaky start, allowing a double and a single in the first inning to account for his only run. However, he settled in to blank the A's thereafter, though he did strand four runners in scoring position. While he has worked primarily out of the bullpen this season, his last four appearances have all been starts, during which he has allowed 11 earned runs in 24 innings. Oddly, only one of those runs came across the plate in 12.2 innings at Coors Field.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Allows four earned runs

Corbin allowed four earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out eight across six innings Saturday against the Padres. He did not factor into the decision.

Corbin ran into trouble in the third inning, during which he allowed three doubles and three of his four earned runs. On the positive side, he also worked three innings without allowing a baserunner and generated an impressive 23 swinging strikes overall. Despite a solid 3.26 ERA and 1.06 WHIP to go along with 166 strikeouts through 135.1 innings this season, Corbin has allowed four or more earned runs in four of his past 10 starts.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Fans seven in tough-luck loss

Fried (1-4) struck out seven but took the loss Saturday, as the Braves fell 5-1 to the Dodgers. He allowed one run on two hits and three walks over five innings.

The 24-year-old was sharp, but Alex Wood was just a little bit sharper, holding the Braves scoreless for 5.2 innings to saddle Fried with a fairly undeserved loss. He pitched well enough to remain in the Atlanta rotation for now, putting him on track to make his next start Thursday on the road against the Mets.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Shuts down Braves for sixth straight win

Wood (7-5) picked up the win Saturday, giving up only one hit and four walks over 5.2 scoreless innings while striking out five in a 5-1 victory over the Braves.

The southpaw threw only 58 of 96 pitches for strikes, but Atlanta's hitters couldn't make solid contact on the pitches Wood did put in the zone. He hasn't lost a game since June 9, winning six straight decisions, and he'll carry a 3.68 ERA into his next outing Friday at home against the Astros.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Will see doctors regarding elbow pain

Cueto, who gave up four runs in four innings against the Brewers on Saturday, will meet with doctors Sunday regarding constant pain in his throwing elbow and is unlikely to make his next start, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

This is the same pain he felt before landing on the disabled list. His fastball was sitting in the mid-80s in the first inning against Milwaukee, so it's no surprise that he was hit hard (eight hits, zero walks, zero strikeouts). At the very least, Cueto should be considered out indefinitely, and surgery could end up being a possibility. Ty Blach, who replaced Cueto in Saturday's game, could slot into the rotation, as could Chris Stratton, but the Giants could also promote someone from the Triple-A rotation.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Takes another loss

DeGrom (5-6) gave up three runs on eight hits with zero walks and five strikeouts in seven innings in a loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Trevor Williams blanked the Mets, so deGrom now has one win (on June 18) since May 18, which is a shocking reality, given that he has a 1.82 ERA in 138.1 innings this season. He will look to snap this bleak streak in his next outing at home against the Braves on Friday.

  • Pirates' Trevor Williams: Scoreless streak reaches 17 innings

Williams (9-7) threw six scoreless innings Saturday against the Mets, giving up five hits and three walks while striking out five en route to the win.

He has now improbably beaten Corey Kluber and Jacob deGrom in his last two starts. Williams hasn't allowed a run in 17 straight innings since he surrendered three in the third inning of a 17-5 loss against Philadelphia on July 6. This recent excellence should make him a hot pickup in standard formats. He has somehow started six of the Pirates' 12 shutouts this season. Williams will look to extend his scoreless streak when he takes the hill next Saturday against the Cardinals.

  • Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Walks season-high five

Velasquez gave up two runs on six hits and five walks while striking out four in five innings in a no-decsision against the Reds on Saturday.

Velasquez's five walks represent a season high, but he was able to strike out the final two batters he faced to escape a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning, limiting the damage. He has now allowed just five runs over his last 27 innings, striking out 25 over that stretch. Velasquez should make his next start either Thursday or Friday against the Marlins.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Confirmed for Monday's start

The Cardinals are satisfied with how Martinez (oblique) recovered from Friday's bullpen session and he's been officially named the starter for Monday's series opener against the Rockies, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

It was expected all along that how Martinez felt the next day after his Friday bullpen would essentially determine whether or not he'd be activated and take the hill against Colorado. That's now been made official, although it won't be an ironclad guarantee until the Cardinals activate Martinez on Monday. If he does indeed make his return, Martinez will have missed just one start since hitting the disabled list July 19.
